Interesting. Have never heard of Trilogy MMA. I grew up near there and started in Judo near there. That he or their staff have the pre-reqs is pretty interesting for a MMA company/club.

Maybe they realized MMA is no match for a CCW and switching to a more effective form of SD.

Maybe. I was thinking more realization of mixed/multiple methods needed. Opposite of how many think "I have a gun, so no need for anything else".

Seems like they're collaborating with Hawaii Tactical Division. As the 2 owners were talking about it on the IG page. (Peter and Paul).

There's that Medeiros guy who said "just bang" and he trains or something kids and MMA during the Bill 57 testimony.

I know empty hand skills are important, but mine are rapidly declining as I age.

People don't understand that typically, "just banging" is assault. And thus illegal. Then add in old age, female, disabilities, etc...Going up and up is not a fair option to those who arent strong enough. I have read many comments like this over the years on SSH FB page. "No need gun, just go up and up". Yeah, tell that to a rape victim.
-
Gonna try contact them and see if they have anything set up yet. Or at least see if they have a planned waiting list

A lot of these places are charging a lot of money for the class. A class like this should cost $100 to $175.
-
Trilogy MMA says “$250 including range and ammo fees.”
I wonder if that will change when I tell them I’m shooting .357 Sig… :D
-
Hope it doesn't present a hardship for lower income people and senior citizens. They are the demographic most vulnerable to crime.

I would ask b4 attending. Worst thing happening is no more ammo day of.

Heard good things about Butch's classes. It might be his NRA defensive handgun class and $300 is pretty good for a 2 day class. If you've never taken a live fire handgun class beyond basic pistol, then I'd suggest this one to learn skills.

I called Butch to confirm because I heard from another person that it's not the Oahu CCW. Butch IS DOING THE OAHU CCW. I updated the list above to remove "per poster below" since I talked to Butch.
But his class is booked until end or March.

Took the Hawaii Tactical Division’s CCW course today. 4 hour lecture with PowerPoint and note packet to write in answers and notes about rules and laws, multiple choice in-depth test, and then live fire shooting test. $100 deposit to secure spot in class and balance payable upon completion or entrance of class. Range fee and targets are paid for by HTD. Only have to pay for ammo of choice. 25 round test at ~ 3, 5, 7, and 15 yards. Max score 125, minimum of 75 to pass. Scored 125 and fired concealed with shot timer and from holster
Can retest if you fail (won’t happen) and you can even show up a little early to knock out the handgun safety training and get the affidavit if you don’t have it already. Refer to my name (Kyle) or anyone else who went and you’ll get $20 off course fee + additional $25 off if you’re a paid HIFICO member (total cost is $250 before discounts)
Incredibly chill but professional and informative crew. 10/10 would recommend and when I qual with another pistol, I’m going back to them

Most instructors are using B27/B29 targets. Some are using others.

Those are 50yd targets the side of a barn at 10yds.
I use a B-21, a 25 yrd target, about 30% less target area
