Is there some way SCOTUS can rule on this subject? Seems like 3 more states currently are considering constitutional carry.
If successful it would amount to more than half of the states having constitutional carry. Would this be a catalyst for SCOTUS to eventually rule on this subject?
Would be nice to have constitutional carry in Hawaii. The current "arrangement" we have now sucks. Hawaii would never consider constitutional carry on it's own. If there were no Bruen decision, Hawaii would continue to tell it's citizens to suck wind when it comes to CCW.
I support constitutional carry over CCW permit laws anytime, any day, and twice on Sunday. :shaka:

It seems to be a cultural thing unique to union members.
Largest employer in Hawaii is government. Most are union members.
I obey all Constitutional laws. Ainokea about the union backed BS regulations.
State of Hawaii licenses me to openly carry a gun and kill things, it is called hunting.
Why should my county decide otherwise for open carry for protection of myself?

In reality, there are already 25 states with Constitutional/Permit-less carry. Some don't include North Dakota, because they only allow permit-less carry for ND residents, but I think it still counts in the 50% total.
If you're visiting ND from a Constitutional Carry state, your out-of-state permit will be honored. This applies to all states that also honor ND carry permits.
States that don't require permits to carry still issue them to residents upon request for reciprocity purposes when traveling.

One of the reasons I got my Arizona permit. Will not set foot in Calif, so i am good for all other adjoining states.
Refuse to let Hawaii dig into my privacy with a free pass, do not plan on spending that much more of my life here to bother anyway.

I would love it if we have constitutional carry, but as you know we would be the last state to do so
We should keep fighting the good fight, get our ccw permits, and prove them wrong! 💪💪

I am almost 73. Just found out another one of my classmates died on the operating table today. I dunno if I have or can wait another 5 years, much less 10, to be able to freely practice a constitutional right.
But you know what? Ainokea.

I'm also at that stage in life where more and more friends and family you've grown up with are passing away. I also wonder if constitutional carry will be a reality in my lifetime.
But there is hope for our younger 2a brothers and sisters.
Unfortunately, Hawaii needs to be forced to comply and will never initiate these rights on their own. Unless we gut the political landscape which as we has seen lately, is daunting to say the least.

I thought that there was no way HI would have CCW in my lifetime. Or at minimum toward the end of my lifespan (age 70s, as I'm in my 30s now). So all the work I've been helping with is for HI's children and grandchildren.
With that being said, I feel that there's no way HI will have constitutional carry. But I was wrong with the above so who knows?

That is why I stated before, I was extremely disappointed with Thomas written decision. He barely went half way in establishing our 2A rights.

It's funny how out of all the enumerated rights, 2A is the least offensive in terms of pure objectivity.
Free Speech - you can use offensive, derogatory, hateful, vile, slanderous language etc. and you're protected. You're forced to listen to someone's loud music on level 11 and you can't tell them to turn it down. Yet carrying a firearm can get you thrown in jail and lose your other rights for merely having a hunk of metal and plastic. It's not "doing" anything.

If a single state gets to them about it, they will likely only rule per that state due to the scope of their limits. Ex: if California case about CC hits SCOTUS, they will only rule regarding California, not the other 49 states that haven’t adopted it yet

Liberals, blocked hiking trails, no shooting ranges, insane shipping for stuff not available local. tourists making traffic miserable,,,,Liberals........but I repeat myself.
I could go on, but after almost twenty years, I am getting tired of the same old.
Even if I had not screwed up an ear diving, could not afford scuba here anymore. Why I moved to take a job here to begin with.

this year.
In any event things here in Hawaii will not change for gun owners.
Legally we may be a state of the USA, but in reality we are a part of the Peoples Republic of China.
with a lot Of Japanese and Hawaiian Monarchy mixed in.

We're trying to get things to change. But it cost $ and time at the grassroots level (HIFICO). Is the change at the speed and things we want? The answer is no, but baby steps.
Besides your donations, I hope you also write testimonies when the time comes. And tell others to do the same. The anti 2a groups are growing from the past 3 years, so every individual testimony counts. Even if you just hit "oppose" and submit that.

Nakashima seems to be reasonable, but is still a DINO ":playing the system".
My testimony is a matter of public record and has been reported in the local paper.
No such thing as "baby steps" when you are dealing with Democrats.

Then call me later to ask how come X passed to complain or recently "how do I get a CCW, do you have hook ups with any instructor?". I get that due to some peoples jobs or situations, they gotta stay off the radar. But the bunch of people who called me about the CCW don't have this issue. Since they're friends, I know exactly what their jobs, home life (spouses job) is and any like situations that may prevent them from submitting test. They give me the same BS reply "I forgot, next time I'll do it". Or they call me asking to help them and it was already due 2 days prior.
The chiefs rules is probably a once in a life time thing. And we were almost out numbered by the anti 2a side. It wasn't a blow out like how most anti 2a bills are. 1500 to 127 sends a stronger message than 400 to 250.
Also Nakashima was the one to kill the mag ban last year. He made the sole decision for his house committee to not give that bill a hearing. So your call to him probably helped.

A few years back I gave him the wording to change HRS 134-9 to "shall issue". He submitted it, it passed first reading. Karl "Marx" Rhodes killed it.
I always figured he submitted it , knowing it would never be heard in committee.
But I do let the elected people know my thoughts.

Unfortunately Tarnas replaced Nakashima as chair on the Judiciary committee for 2023. Nakashima seemed fairly conservative. Tarnas seems to be a bit more anti-gun, though he seems to reluctantly support hunting. But I guess anyone against hunting wouldn't be elected on the big island.

Sorry. I was in the middle of cooking dinner, and your post just pushed that proverbial button.
I've been in both modes: Ignore politics because ulcers fix nothing, and stay up on all the issues to have an informed opinion should anyone on the inside cares enough to listen to me.
So far, ulcer prevention has been more productive. :shaka:

Not 100% sure, but I think it may be that they were voting on whether the committee adopted the statement “The committee(s) on AEN recommend(s) that the measure be PASSED, UNAMENDED.” Since the noes outnumbered the ayes, the committee did NOT adopt that statement; that is, the measure did not pass committee…
