May he Rest in Peace.

Enjoyed his performances in Black Hawk Down and Saving Private Ryan.  Also Heat.

I liked his character as the Colonel in Black Hawk Down.  He was in a total SHTF situation but so cool under fire.

Sad that he battled substance abuse for most of his life.

Is 61 really considered "young?"

I agree it's below the average mortality age for men in the US.  The 2020 CDC estimated life expectancy for males is 74.2.  But, as with all averages, there's always a range of what's actually normal -- some live much longer, and some die much sooner.  Genetics tend to dictate one's lifespan more than lifestyle -- up to a point, of course.

I've known several people who suffered strokes as young as 32.  My preacher's wife was in her mid-40s when she suffered a cerebral aneurysm and literally dropped dead working in her flower bed.

Unless the autopsy says different, there's no way to know if his drug use was the cause of his stroke.  Most famous entertainers who die young and did drugs actually died from an OD or organ damage directly attributed to the drugs.
