Title: New to Oahu: Where to shoot?
Post by: Fox800 on March 14, 2023, 12:06:45 PM
Hi all. I moved to Oahu a few months ago and I'm wondering - with Koko Head temporarily closed, where can you go to shoot pistol or rifle? I'm assuming it's all private ranges. Do you need to join a club? How do you go about getting access to a private range around here? Thanks!

If you are military, you can apply to the Schofield Rod & Gun Club.

Other than 808 and Xring that stang noted, there a very limited opportunities to shoot on private land.  In general, those opportunities are by invitation only, or via specific groups or instructors who are allowed access.  Since the closure of KHSC, those opportunities are even more limited due to some incidents as well as folks not following rules of the property owners.

Thanks all. I was hoping for an outdoor range to shoot rifle once in a while. Sounds like those are few and far between and invitation only. Are there any organizations to join to get access to something like that?

Hawaii's leftist regime is working hard at eliminating anywhere to shoot,

You can shoot rifle indoor at X-Ring only thing is it’s 25yds. Keep in mind even if Koko head was open you have so many restrictions there that it is only conducive to target practice. No holster draw or rapid fire makes shooting there a lot less appealing to those who want to train for real practical applications.

If you don't mind traveling...big island has mile marker 16 range, public range about 150 yards.  Can do different types of shooting 7 days a week.

Maui's Ukumehame has a 200 yard public range open on the weekends, but closed on some days I think.

If you have CAC access to MCBH they have a range, but I would contact the base Shooting range/PD to see if it is still open to CAC holders.

Unfortunately, I'm not military so I don't have CAC access.

Hi all. I moved to Oahu a few months ago

Welcome to Hawaii. My condolences on the sudden death of your constitutional rights, and liberty.
