Trump says he'll be ARRESTED on Tuesday; tells his supporters to come to NY & TAKE OUR NATION BACK!
When it comes to inciting imminent lawless action, Donald Trump has priors. Trump posted that he will be arrested in New York on Tuesday as a result of District Attorney Alvin Bragg's investigation of his hush money payments to Stormy Daniels.
Knowing full well what happened when he previously told his supporters, "Big protest in D.C. on January 6th. Be there, will be wild!", Trump has nevertheless this now told his supporters he "will be arrested on Tuesday of next week. Protest, take our nation back!"
Will prosecutors use this statement at his arraignment to argue Donald Trump is a danger to public safety? If so, what might the judge do with Trump while he awaits trial? Will the judge limit/prohibit his overseas travel? Order him to surrender his passport? Place some limits on his speech or his use of social media? If the State of NY investigated Trump ever since 2016 (or before), and all they can do is dust off an already failed scandal about paying someone to be quiet about an affair, then it's painfully obvious to anyone with a positive IQ there's nothing there.
Daniels' crooked lawyer, Avenatti, argued that the agreement Daniels signed was not binding because Trump didn't sign it. It's apparent her fraud of a lawyer doesn't understand contracts. When she accepted the $130K "hush money", that was called "consideration" -- no different than giving a lawyer a retainer to protect your client rights. She signed the contract promising to stay quiet, and she received the payment as consideration for her agreement. That makes the contract enforceable.
If i were Trump, I'd sue her for breach of contract. He seems to have ignored her in order to allow the craziness she and her sideshow lawyer were drumming up. If this hits the fan again, I think he should punish her by exercising his rights in the contract.
Anyway, I don't see anything in the law that makes it illegal to pay for silence unless the silence involves a witness to a crime. If adultery is a crime in NY, a lot of political leaders better run for cover.
Calling it "hush money" directly implies it was to cover up a crime. Just more Democrat BS to shut down his political career.

Exactly. This argument which Trump's enemies spent all these years fabricating is that the payment from his lawyer (Cohen) was reimbursed by Trump and listed in some accounting data as "legal fees."
Unless the $130K reduced his taxable income, they really have nothing more than an accounting mistake, which normally just means penalties and interest on the underpayment.
I bet $100 that since Trump showed a net loss for the years surrounding that "hush money" payment, it's a non-issue regarding taxes owed. And the fact he arguably or his lawyer tried to keep the payment from being accurately reported would have been explained by not wanting to negate the reason for the payment.
I believe Democrats are the ones who excused President Clinton's lies under oath as "normal" for anyone reluctant to admit adultery.
Maybe Trump should dust off the Democrat's talking point from the Lewinsky scandal -- "It's just sex."

That's why xhe posted this. In their universe, this is a completely new tactic/investigation that's never been tried before.
One of the biggest points -- the DA in NY can't go after Trump for federal campaign law or IRS tax code violations. They don't have federal jurisdiction. So, all they have is the potential for NY State tax law or an SEC violation.
Since Trump can viably claim no knowledge of any accounting mistakes (his people did that), and since intent and/or knowledge are an element that would need to be proven in court, it's just another witch hunt aimed at harassing him.

Now they are supposed to meet "sometime next week."
It's become apparent to the jurists that there's nothing to indict Trump for. The NY AG is getting pushback from their bosses, too.
This scandal was already looked into TWICE before, and the decision was made to do nothing due to weak evidence and no actual crime.
If the feds aren't going after Trump for supposed campaign finance reporting rules, then NY State is the wrong venue to take a third bite at the apple.
Trump's loving this. He's raising millions for his war chest using this one political attack..

It’s one of the only reasons that I continue to be somewhat interested in supporting him as a candidate. The way the establishment (both democrat and Republican) hates him tells me he is a real outsider and not part of “the club”. Desantis on the other hand seems to get love from the establishment which I’m hesitant to trust.

I feel the same way. I am so sick and tired of the "establishment" aka the Swamp.
Trump is an outsider and also well to do, so he's not too prone to seek wealth using his office. He is far from perfect (who is, well maybe the demorats think they are) and he has flaws like all of us. And his ego gets the best of him.
But it's that ego that makes him want people to love him. And for them to love him he will do what makes them happy.
And that's just fine with me. Bottom line: Make the people happy.

Not that I'm particularly partisan, but I vote for what is best for my economic interests.
The poor are for churches to care for, They'd do a much better job if Democrats got out of the way.
Republicans ( and most Democrats I have worked for, if you weren't a Democrat) have very little respect
for their workers, that is what unions used to be for.
Trump is not the best example of morality, but he is effective.
By getting the government to some extent off our backs I got richer
to nobody's loss.
Bush II, Obama, and Bidet cost me money, lots of it, for no reason,

Back in the mid 70's, I worked for Cec Heftel. He owned radio and TV stations across the U.S.
Around that time, he decided to run for congress. He won. He was a good congressman, but he didn't get along well with the democrat political machine.
When he ran for governor in 1986, a huge ugly smear campaign was launched against him. It cost him the election.
Politics is a dirty business.
