Post by: Downfall on April 12, 2023, 08:47:39 AM
Looking for recommendations on where to pick one up at, besides Hawaii safes.

Check Costco or Lowe’s…they have from time to time.  Security Equipment and Young Guns might have also.

Assuming you're looking for a big safe for rifles.  Sams has on the floor from time to time. Also check their and Costco, Home Depot websites if they can ship to the store or your home. It's hit or miss.

I got mine from Cabela's. For a few weeks it wasn't free shipping. They wanted $400. Then by chance I looked again and $20 shipping. So I ordered it and it arrived.

Do they allow you to order in the store if you cannot order online (home depot)

Edit: What safe brand did you end up going with from home depot?

it doesn't have to be huge. I Was going to get the Liberty Centurion 18 from a local store but got quoted one price and once it got here they jacked the price up beyond what I was willing to pay for a level 1 security safe.
Went to cabelas website, and was going to order the centurion 12 but it says doesn't ship directly from manufacture to our location. So my wife works with a lot of freight companies and I can have it shipped to cali, and then freighted over
on my wifes containers just gotta pay for freight.

I bought a 14 rifle safe from Costco last year.  Sanctuary Brand.  54" tall 19" wide 19" deep.  If you use it for 14 rifles you won't be able to put anything else in except maybe the top shelf.

Certainly not the best but better than average.  I configured the safe for half rifles and half documents, premium ammo storage, and handguns.

If you go to the customer service counter they might be able to do that for you.  I went with this cheap one: https://www.homedepot.com/p/STACK-ON-14-Gun-10-cu-ft-Key-Lock-Security-Cabinet-GCB-14P/203675969#overlay

Are you taliking about a safe or a security cabinet?
For a real fire resistant waterproof safe,  Costco is
your best bet here in Hawaii.
 :shaka:
If you are just looking for something to keep
untrained kids away from your guns, any cheapie
lockable walmart thing will work.

If you are worried about burgulars?
ship in a good Liberty safe. buy direct.
Isn't cheap, my choice would start at  $6000.
But I think I have more guns than most people here.
I'm a light weight gun wise, where I live, I know guys that have walk in safes.
plus all my guns are in WA state, since I refuse to register my guns.
Fed Ex is my freind.

Good shopping.

Facebook Marketplace. There is a guy that collects vintage safes that sells them once in awhile. I picked up an old Victor safe and put carpeting and shelves. I feel it's more secure than a newer gun safe, as it's constructed of concrete, and not drywall.

Costco waipio has a small safe, seen it today, $579.  Its probably not the most robust safe but its at least a couple hundred pounds and better than a security cabinet.  It also has some electrical for led lights and maybe a dehumidifier.

Thanks for the heads up, gonna go check costco out this week. Gonna see if Home depot can bring me in the Liberty Centurion 12, or see what liberty safes can do directly from them.

As mentioned earlier Lowes Waikele has some also.  Don’t recall the brand but was surprised to see them there the other week.

The ones I saw at Lowe’s were a “Fortress” and a “Cannon.”  Heard of Cannon, never heard of Fortress. Cannon was a 48-gun safe, $1429. Fortress was a 24-gun for $1000.

I have seen safes at Security Equipment, Aloha Lock and Key (I think), Salz lock and Key in Kaimuki.

I have a simple American Security safe and have been happy with it. I would avoid the ones at Costco, I have seen the display models broken

Thanks for all the help everyone, ended up just ordering from Home depot in Compton Ca. Having it freighted to Hawaii. Since my wife works closely with aloha freight, it was only 150ish bucks to ship it. Bought a Liberty Centurion, just needed a small one.

Tractor supply has a good selection of safes. Big and small. They also have sales all the time.

Did a double tale on that one
Compton, CA,  I used to live next door to them.
It was like Chicgo on weekends.
I lived across the river, but Damn. it was wild!

Gun Safes (https://www.libertysafe.com/collections/gun-safes) are a solid option for security and reliability. They offer fire protection, which is a big plus here. I’ve been using one for a while, and the build quality is solid. The locking mechanism feels smooth, and there’s plenty of space for everything I need to store. If anyone’s looking for something sturdy that doesn’t break the bank, this could be a great choice.
