I am expecting some visitors from the Philippines next year who are gun enthusiasts and shoot in the Philippines competitively. Of course, we are definitely taking a trip to the gun stores and the range. I want to ask an obvious question before they come over...
Can a law abiding Filipino citizen who has a Philippine permit to acquire firearms be able to purchase a firearm here and get it FFLd to the Philippines?
What paperwork is required and do arrangements need to be made with a Philippine firearm dealer before a buyer comes over to Hawaii? Does anyone know if there are there any export / import restrictions that need to be considered?
Would they be better off flying to a more gun friendly state and purchase from there instead?
I am 100% sure this will be asked when they come here next year so thanks for any insights on this matter.

Hmmmm did a little googling and sounds like this is not worth the hassle. Agreed?

I don't think they are able to purchase and bring back firearms.
Not 100% sure but I haven't heard of anyone else successfully doing it.
I know that acquiring a firearm in the Philippines is super easy though.
"American" firearms cost an arm and a leg though.

Simple answer is no. Without proof of citizenship, they don't qualify for a permit to acquire (in Hawaii). As for more "friendly" states? Even the ones with the most lax gun laws will require additional documentation (proof of exception) for purchase.
With the import taxes they'd have to pay in the PI, it'd probably be easier for them to just find a dealer there and order what they want. They'll end up paying about the same.

Yes they can pay for them but need to find someone with a export ffl to ship them to the PI. They cant aquire any guns in hawaii.
I hear the cost is crazy.
