Submitted online registration request on May 30th. Still no registration. I called them and they said they have a backlog of several months. I asked if I could still walk-in register even if they had my online request. She said just let them know and they’ll cancel my request. I should have just walked in like normal. Live and learn. Lol.

With the new changes that go live on 7/1 don’t you need a copy of the registration with the firearm if you’re pulled over? I recall another thread talking about having to provide proof of registration when stopped since you have duty to inform, show, and provide proof now.

sounds like an HPD problem and not yours. you submitted on time, not your fault if they cant keep up.

Only if you're CCWing.

Yup, unless needed for CCW.
-
for CCW you also need the registration signed, which if online register it is not signed

That’s sucks. I’ll be doing an online reg for pistol this weekend. Will see what the latest is.
I’ve done online reg for pistols 4-5 times in the last year and usually got the email in maybe 2-3 days.

Last time we reg a rifle, it took over 30 days for it to be emailed to us. Prior to that a pistol reg came in 5 days. This was in 2022.
I've heard of guys calling to ask for it and it came by end of day. Seems like HPD pulled the stack and processed that specific one due to the phone call.

All of my online regs say "registration not signed at time of registration".
I recall overhearing the guy ahead of me when doing my PTA had to go to the other side (records and registration I guess I'll call it) to get a signature. So I am guessing this is why. . .

I had to do the same. go to other side and they printed another registration paper that I signed on that computer signing thing. so it printed the paper with my signature

I thought it was just “evidence of registration” needed with CCW. Would a digital photo of the registration not be sufficient? Or even the carry license itself be the evidence since a requirement to submit the license application was having to provide a copy of the firearm registration.

The law doesn't state examples. Typical Hawaii. But what's more concerning is the reg has your DOB and social on it. So if you lose the paper reg, identity theft is at risk.
1 would think the carry license is sufficient because it has the serial # on it. But Hawaii government is looking for ways to trip people up. That's the sole purpose of the CCW section of SB1230.

Took about a month to get my online registration back. Just got it last week.

Received reg this morning via email. Submitted online 24 or 25 Jun (was Sat or Sun), so a little over a month. Was super quick when I last reg online around March. Not a big deal for me, but something to consider. Esp if you're buying something for your CCW application/permit.
