We are going to try and get the city council to require HPD to do firearms registrations at all police stations. There is currently a petition being circulated to gather signatures to present to the City Council. It is available at the HRA website and the LIFE website.
The direct link is: https://www.change.org/petitions/city-council-of-the-city-and-county-of-honolulu-permit-registration-of-firearms-at-all-police-stations# (https://www.change.org/petitions/city-council-of-the-city-and-county-of-honolulu-permit-registration-of-firearms-at-all-police-stations#)

Read 91 times, but my signature was #70.
C'mon guys, we can't get things changed if we don't show the 'powers that be' significant numbers of supporters.
aloha,
Mr. Ed

That "change.org" petition is disturbing. They ask for a lot of information and from their privacy policy page, and they are not shy about using or displaying unless you deliberately go into the site and undo the default settings.

*sigh* /tinfoil.
The internet isn't free; I guess you don't use google, gmail, any other large mail provider, answer surveys or anything else like that either?
--- Anyways, I signed, and after linking to Facebook like six more people have signed off of my link.

Only when I have to... Or if the service provides something I really need or really want. I just posted that warning so that people are aware that you will probably get more spam or junk mail unless you go into the site and revise the default settings.

Signed. Spreading the word.

Should be interesting if it works. A lot of the police stations arent that big, some even have jails. They gonna have to do a lot of changes to handle this type of workload... and to have civilians trying to register firearms at a "jail"... respectively. Although it should be, theoretically, unloaded. Would be nice tho not having to go only to one place with expensive @ parking.

How is it we still only have 290 signatures on this?? It's almost embarrassing.
Am I missing something? Is there any reason a gun owner or just a supporter of the 2nd Amendment wouldn't want to sign this? Unless they just don't know the current situation, I see none.

Someone should post a notice about this petition on the wall right outside the firearms division so all the people who are sick of waiting in line will see it and sign.

I already have signed and I emailed the link to a few people and they have just signed... how much longer is the petition good for? If it's good for a while why don't we post some flyers of the quarter and try to get some down at the police station

Almost 300 signatures! 4703 to go! LOL, where does the 5k number come from?
-
I'm gonna bookmark the petition in my phones browser so people who want to can sign on the spot.

322 signatures

I like that, once I signed, it took me to a sponsored poll thanking Bob Costas for speaking out against gun violence.
Yes, I signed, even though I wholeheartedly disagree with this. We should not be putting energy into making gun control easier to deal with, we should be putting energy into disbanding the bureaucratic elements of gun control. Like maybe a petition demanding an accounting of the firearms unit and a hard line analysis of what, if any, good it has done.

A somewhat arbitrary number I thought would be good.....Not that I don't think there are 5,000 Hawaii gun owners. I know there is......

Someone should go there with an iPad with wifi and have all the people waiting in line sign.

Keep on signing brothers and sisters. Pilaboy :shaka:

Bump!
Signed... damn those HPD lines

Looks like the link to the petition is still working, and the petition is still open to signatures. Still figuring out the "quote" function.

There should be a petition to end registration.

I signed. :) :) :)

And there should be an end to long gun registration

Signed. Is there a time frame to have the "required" 5k signatures? Is this posted at Kokohead? I bet a few people there that go early, waiting for a bench, or in-between a cease fire would sign it.

The 5k signature goal is a somewhat arbitrary one...the petition isn't posted at KKSC because it would likely get lost, wet, torn off the board, and someone (meaning me...) would then have to put the two databases together....if you want to post a notice, with a link to the petition, please feel free to do so.
