Anyone?

Rough ETA 2 weeks. I'll post on the forum when they are legal.
-
Depends on if the case is appealed or not. If not appealed, it goes back to district court where the decision is finalized and you can buy the knives.

How about butterfly machetes?

It would depend on how the machete is opened for use. So butterfly machete, is a no go until the judge in HI rules.

Happy for you balisong guys, but I'm guessing this means nothing immediately for autos and gravity knives?

Yeah. Too bad. OTF is ideal for working especially with only one hand free.

Kind off topic but watch this vid on a gravity karambit on youtube. That thing looks sick but I'll prob cut my hand lol

We have to see if this case is appealed first, got a three more weeks to go for the appeal filing deadline. If it's not appealed, then a switchblade lawsuit would be fairly simple to do or you can have a bill introduced by your legislator to repeal the law next year which is doable. Legislators wouldn't want our attorneys to make money off a switchblade lawsuit.
-
What about switch blades, gravity, and such? Is these not covered as well? Or specifically butterfly’s?

According to what I've read here and on the HIFICO FB page, it was specific to one type of knife. If the state decides not to appeal (which is sounds like they would lose anyway), then at least this type would be legal when the time limit to appeal expires.
That would make challenging the ban on other types of knives a slam dunk, so any threat of a lawsuit would likely result in a change in the law without having to get another judgement.
One step at a time.

Never try to guess what these evil people are thinking.
If I were the judge, they would need a hella good reason to get me to extend the deadline.
Wouldn't be surprised if they said their primary litigator was a Lahaina resident, just to play the disaster sympathy card.

Is switch blade going to be legal under this new ruling? And can we purchase butterfly knives yet??

Switchblades have their own lawsuit. Roa vs. Hawaii/lopez.
