My favorite powder is AR Comp. Been using RL15 for years for 77 across the course and it works very well but AR Comp produces better velocity with less case volume. Pricey though. $475ish for 8 lbs. at this time

Varget. From 52 g4 SMK's to 80 gr SMK's.

Beforehand I would answer these type questions with, “What ever is on the shelf”
But now that powders are now being somewhat available, I would answer with, “ Depends how I’m going to drop my powder”
If on a progressive press, ball type powder is best.
H335 or CFE223
If I’m using a powder drop,
XBR 8208 or H322
If using a ChargeMaster dispenser,
Varget or RE15

I found that Lee's Auto Drum powder measure on a Dillon 550 throws pretty accurate RE15 weights. I also polished the Dillon PM and it also throws short stick like RE15 pretty well

That’s a great “Pro-Tip”
Thanks for sharing
XBR8208 and RE15 have been a favorite for me because at the time i started reloading, XBR was new and nobody was buying it and RE15 was also available.
With these two powders I was able to develop loads for both 223 & 308W.
BTW - I’m looking for H4350. I’m starting 6.5CM so I have powders to trade in the classifieds. :shaka:

RE15 was my sole favorite till I tried AR Comp. I used RE15 in 223 for 77s and 80s with success. 308Win 175s on top of RE15. RE15 is a great powder. AR Comp produces faster velocities with less powder. I couldn't get beyond 2700 with RE15 in a Shilen 1x7 barrel but with AR Comp I got over that 2700 plateau with less powder.
