Title: Charge weight vs seating depth

I’ve been googling the answer but it seems to be a lot more complicated than I can comprehend at the moment. What are your guys thoughts? From what I can understand it seems charge weight comes first until you find the right “accuracy node” (wth is that) until the grouping goes vertical? Then you fine tune the group with depth seating?

What are your favorite methods?

Start with the basics. Follow the book data and recommendations. COAL, min and max powder charge, velocities, bullet weight. Its all there for ya.

There are numerous methods.  I personally follow Erik Cortina's methods, which have a "process/work flow" from charge weight node, then seating depth, then refinement of charge weight.  The key for the first node (flat spot in charge weight) is a chronograph.  If you have a barrel tuner, you can skip the seating depth, but many do both.  I have one gun with tuner and one without.  I haven't really started load work up for the gun without the tuner just yet. 

Then there's optimal charge weight, including various methods or theories of analyzing the target.  I personally don't do that for a number of reasons.  In general, I'd rather have more steps based on data. 

One big tip is to stick with a method and get it down before implementing your own refinements.  Definitely don't "mix and match", at least on your own to start with.
