Kamehameha does some shady stuff, so why wouldn't they want the state to help pay?

Then I guess the dude who decided not to sound the CD sirens, lied about them only being for tsunamis, then quit his job will be donating his retirement fund to the state's victim fund?

If there is anyone needing immunity from prosecution or lawsuits ....

I must have missed where they said Kamehameha was contributing to the fund.

Depending on how much each household gets, that might not be a bad payout, especially if added to homeowners insurance payout.

I don't like that you have to sign away your rights to sue in the future but isn't that pretty standard with any civil settlement? Like if someone hits your car and their insurance pays you a settlement, doesn't that usually mean you accept the payment and close the option for a lawsuit later?
