Title: you think?

Aircraft expert Peter Forman said the runway in Kaneohe is shorter, and bad weather and winds may also have played a part.

“The pilot probably didn’t put the plane down exactly where he wanted to on the runway,” Forman said. “It’s probably a combination of all those factors put together.”

I had to look up the P-8A Poseidon aircraft having little experience with Navy planes.

It's a variation on the Boeing 737-800.

It was cloudy and rainy at the time. Visibility was about 1 mile (1.6 kilometers), said
Thomas Vaughan, a National Weather Service meteorologist in Honolulu.

I haven't seen much cloudy and rainy weather lately.
At most, overcast and drizzling.

News also said plane crew from Washington State or something.  So I guess crew unfamiliar with terrain, weather, I dunno.

Glad no one got hurt.

And in a way good had water instead of schools and houses on the other end.

From my reading, the unit is stationed in Washington but rotates crews here to provide mission coverage. I assume there are crews who've rotated here previously and are familiar with the air strip and conditions.

Need longer runway with those orange water filled barrels at the end. Instead of a runaway truck ramp have a runaway plane ramp.

Since it's a Navy plane, maybe install a tail hook and ground cables?

When the Blue Angels are here, they are told to pull up soon after take off as there's a mountain.  This is the only airfield in the nation that they have to do this. And Hawaii is their last show (end of the season).

An all female anti sub crew is stationed in Hawaii, its unknown if this same crew
was involved in the crash. At least everyone survived and swam to shore.
The Russian and Communist Chinese submariners can feel more at ease since
we now have diversity in our military forces.

A couple days ago, there was a local story about an Hawaiian Airlines all-female-Hawaiian ancestry crew.
One of the pilots is my niece.
They made it to Boston without crashing.
