What a horrible description of everything. This leaves us all wondering, "was it rifle magazines?"
Man arrested on suspicion of abuse
Police arrested a 42-year-old Honolulu man Tuesday afternoon who allegedly abused his 41-year-old wife and was found to have illegal ammunition in the home.
Police said the couple had gotten into a fight and the woman received minor injuries at about 4:15 p.m. Tuesday.
The man fled their home, police said. Meanwhile, the woman reported the alleged abuse and turned over firearms registered to her husband to police.
Police discovered among the firearms a prohibited-capacity ammunition magazine.
The husband surrendered to police, who arrested him on suspicion of misdemeanor abuse of a family member and possession of prohibited detachable ammunition magazine.

Scary. They "get into a fight," he leaves. She calls the cops, hands over all his guns. Does she realize at the time just how much she's screwing him?
Don't get me wrong, maybe he deserves it. But whether he abused her, or whether they just had a scrap, he's now screwed for life. Misdemeanor charges, 1 count for each prohibited magazine, and for the illegal ammo. Plus, if he ends up going to trial and is found guilty of any level of domestic abuse, there go his firearms rights in Hawaii forever. And, having sat on a jury twice in recent years of assault cases, I can tell you that the way the jury instructions are issued in these cases, the simple fact that a person has been charged is a 90% indicator that they will be convicted.

Yes, the probable outcome of this is very scary. Male gun owners have to be particularly careful with the way they treat their significant others. It is times like these where you are treated guilty until proven innocent. :(

Actually, any misdemeanor charge of domestic violence will result in losing your gun rights anywhere, not just in Hawaii....see "Lautenberg Amendment" for more info.
