I got conflicting info, Butch said his CCW is valid for 2024 as he's been approved by HPD.

I highly doubt this as Andrew gets the best info as HPD doesn't want to give the wrong info and get sued.

we are screwed
I can imagine the lines at HPD in early 2024, after people start getting their safety classes

at least I got a pistol and a stripped lower recently. should be good for me for a little while
the gun shops will be slow selling firearms in January or maybe longer
HPD going drag their asses about the approved instructor rule

I'm surprised that the law didn't required a handgun safety class for a CCW.

The way I see it if the laws are effective Jan. 1st 2024, then all things pertaining to that law has to be in place.

Which means as of that date there is supposed to be HPD certified instructors ready to give out classes and HPD Firearms Division having the proper staffing and trained personnel to handle the applications.

One can only hope.  If HPD dilly dallies and takes their time it wouldn't surprise the majority of people used to the anti-2a attitude that existed for like, forever.

It does reinforce the overall negativity that has become HPD's reputation.

What state do you live in? How long after "the end of August" did it take HPD to finally have their Bruen-mandated ducks in a row?

since no requirement for safety class for ccw, our ccw permits are good until the date it says on the card?
or will our ccw permits be void as of 1/1/2024?

CCWs should be valid until they XP. I'm 99% sure, but not 100%.

Thinking outloud.

So if a ccw renewal app submits prior to 12/29/23 and it takes months to approve and issued in say March 2024, then its good for 1 year. And when the new process is implimented, they cannot do so with that same gun and has to wait to do it under the 4 year process.

Following thier own logic, if you apply for a pistol permit on dec 29th, you can be issued the permit 2-3 weeks later jan 12-18, without complying with the new requirements. maybe?

The sign would mean this. But we know HPD likes to make up their own rules, so I can see them not "approving" any due to not meeting the new requirements and giving the 60 day notice to meet the additional requirements.  Then any approved would be valid for 1 year and not 4 years.

Which they have already done last year after the Bruen ruling.  This is how little faith I have in HPD.  But lets cross our fingers and hope this sign means what it means.
