If you don't have a beard, sunglasses, and a gun with red dot sights, you're prepping wrong.

But if you got a chest rig, gucci glock, high-end AR, and $10k nods, you can just take water and food and shelter from the "real" preppers!
-
If you didn't go Longs drugs to grab a couple cases of Vienna sausage this week, you are prepping wrong.
Not joking...I did. As did every Filipino family in Waipahu did also. You still have till tomorrow to get some.

I don't know about you guys, but I started rebuilding my emergency stash. I was using up the old stuff and it's time to restock.
Just for fun, I might buy different flavors of spam and have a taste challenge with my kids.
Prepping can be fun.

I have about a years supply of "stuff"
and I'm not a Mormon.
Plus I have live animals all over the place.
I'll probably tire of beans, rice, and bread, I don't know how long
the canned meat will last, but at least I won't be hungry.
I figure given a year I'll figure something out by then.

Spam, vienna sausage, rice, dried beans, pkg. ramen/saimen/noodles. Canned soups, veggies.
Little by little. But if you only starting now, might be a bit late. Or you could take out a 2nd mortgage, go Costco and buy everything.
Then when the SHTF try to shoot as much chickens hanging around all over the place. Get plenty. But no wait. Everybody probably going do the same.
And yeah, agree to not advertise that you are a special forces, navy seal, bearded, sunglassed, tatooed army delta cia operative. With armor plates, RDS, ballistic helmet, boots, camouflage clothes and BVD's, with double edged combat daggers, and NVG's, parading around with your tricked up AR's.
The hunters from the West Side only going shoot you with their 30-30 lever action and take all your stuff.
Stay under the radar and don't advertise notting.

I have no beard, sunglasses, firearms, coms, preps, NVG, reloading supplies, body armor, or ammo.

Just a word of warning to you guys
I was rotating through some of my older canned goods.
I'm tossing them.
Hard to see why canned potatoes go bad!
Switching to freeze dried and vacuumed packed,
where possible. and rotating stock quicker.
Wife and I are not into Mason Jar canning.
Going to switch to STUN gardening, because
I have enough land to do it
STUN - Strategical, Targeted, Uninterested, Negligence.
I hated weeding gardens as a kid.
:grrr:

Trying to cycle through my canned goods too. I notice that canned stuff and mre develop a funky texture when they get too old. I never got sick but it just has a weird feel. If it gets like that I just toss it. Obviously, cans that are bloated are no good.
-
I just restocked on Vienna sausage and tuna.
Then this got me interested.

For people with limited access to land this is a gateway drug to self sufficiency.

I thought it was 200 days but I can adjust.
Let's see Salmon run fishing, Deer season,(early, normal, and late), Elk Season
and then golf in FLA.
I can do that.
R/T airfare about $815,
Hawaii taxes little over $2000,
pretty simple.
Hawaii is not a community property state.
up front costs-
4wd beater car half the price of a comparable
Hawaii car.
Years of building relationships.
and a large family that buy and own their homes.

Private property doesn’t exist if you have to pay property tax. The government owns the property. You just paid a premium in order to lease it at an affordable rate.

Those taxes are imposed at the state, city, and or county level. There are no federal property taxes.
That's only referring to real property -- land, vehicles, other tangible property. The feds get theirs based on what you earn -- salary, tips and wages, capital gains, interest on deposits and investments, etc.

I very much agree with you!
Hawaii property taxes are pretty cheap compared to WA state.
I hate taxes but some things like state and local roads, public safety and a minuscule
amount for administration need to be paid for.
Privatize everything except those functions.
I like a graduated sales tax the best, that way everybody pays.
since the poor can vote, they should shoulder some of
the burden for their decisions.
Food and medical services should be exempted.
The more expensive the item the more the tax of purchase,
eg a $400 per hour lawyer is taxed at 50%
$100 per hour lawyer taxed at 10%,
Pro bono lawyers taxed at flat rate 1% of usual and customary fees.
My point is everybody pays.
The rich buying really nice stuff pay more eg Tesla cars(50%)
The poor buying used 20 year old Explorers pay less(1%)
Be surprised how that would change our society
cheaper food and medical, fewer lawyers, cash based money system
et al.

If you ever wondered who really owns your home try not paying property tax. You will find out really quick.
(Don't really do that BTW)

No reason to apologize friend.
I doubt anybody on this site
does what I do.
Seems like most guys here are full time Hawaii legal residents
Happy to pay taxes to Honolulu and
trying to exercise their rights under the 2A here in Hawaii.
