Currently have Kaiser l, they sent in a record of me seeing a psychiatrist when I was 12 no diagnosis. HPD got a copy and is currently holding my firearms until I can get a letter stating that I’m no longer being treated nor am I a risk for ownership. Obviously Kaiser is choosing not to be involved in giving me the letter so I’m looking for someone who’d atleast be willing to see me to give their own assessment and hopefully end up completing the letter I need as a result when they deem appropriate. Anyone got a lead on a direction to head?

You shouldn't post any personal details unless you really want to. Were you diagnosed with any type of mental illness or psychological condition?
If not, I think the new rules require a diagnosis for a firearm permit/registration denial or confiscation. Before the change, just talking to a counselor for weight loss surgery was enough for them to flag you for a clearance letter.

Look up Alan Beck and contact him with regards to this issue.

No diagnosis, just statement that they provide documents for HPD to make decisions

Any shortcuts to a contact for him, Google the name and everything but his contact pops up :P does seem like an efficient resource

Yes become a registered voter and legal citizen of another state and buy all the guns you want.
CCW in Hawaii is useless as you can't carry anywhere in public due to the dipwads
paranoia.
Best bet is to have a lawyer on speed dial and if you must shoot to protect yourself or someone else,
get a shovel, use it, and shut up.
In Hawaii even if it is a legitimate self defense, you will get arrested and lose your guns.
You are already a criminal so what is an extra charge, if they catch you?
Hawaii laws are just Democrats mostly being power hungry arse wipes.

I'm checking with our attorney. I thought the Santucci Homesick Sailor settlement ended these types of things.
I sent the question to Kevin Ogrady, our other attorney. Giving Alan a bit of a break.

Thanks, I’ve reached out to a few people as well. None seem to agree with what’s happening, still looking for someone willing to take an appt knowing for a clearance check but no luck so far. Was hoping that’d be the quickest route but turning out to be harder than I’d thought. But please keep me updated to what you hear

Check out Beyond Mental Health in Honolulu. I needed a waiver and met with a doc from their practice via Zoom and was cleared and promptly mailed a letter.

Reached out, apparently they just recently stopped doing these clearances very recently even the receptionist wasn’t sure why. Currently just trying to find a doc outside of Kaiser that’s willing to do an honest exam and clearance who isn’t afraid of gun rights. Surprised how many are choosing to stay away from an exam just because it’s related to the clearance form.

That’s really unfortunate. I guess the only way is to tackle the issue head on with a lawsuit. Someone needs to challenge the prohibition on firearms ownership for diagnosis with a mental health condition or seeking mental health treatment. It’s blatantly unconstitutional on its face and the state is all but guaranteed to lose a challenge in the courts. As the law stands it is a ridiculously low bar that’s being used to deprive people of a fundamental right.
The state can’t have it both ways. They either secede and give up that sweet federal money and make their own rules-or they remain a state and abide by the rules set forth in the constitution, full stop.

Backdoor gun control. You need clearance, but you cannot get it casue no one will take you.

You must bring me .... a shrubbery!

Nothings changed since Santucci. HPD can only deny for serious conditions where there is a risk of injury or property damage to self and others. It's HPD's job to figure that out.

Definitely the same vibe
