Title: The Collapse is in Progress
Post by: astroboy on May 27, 2024, 04:01:34 PM
Jeremiah is a firm believer in preparing for bad times on many levels.
He is also a 2A supporter.

Mormons have been preaching prepping for decades.
It seemed like common sense.

Business bankruptcy is up 34%, but not to worry Joe is as sharp as a tack.
Yeah which end of the tack are they talking about?

The prep mentality is largely attributed to government and societal persecution they allegedly experienced throughout their history.

Whenever or not said persecution was warranted or justified, they learned from their experiences and integrated it into a core practice.

This raises an important point. Our islands have not been tested in a while. Too many of us are like the tourists watching cluelessly on the beach as the water recedes just before the Tsunami comes in.

Wouldn't hurt to prepare for emergencies, uprisings, civil war, WROL situations, or nuclear holocaust. ;)

Yeah, it's been so many years since a major catastrophe that I believe on Oahu 90% of the people will lose it in the next 3 days following the major event.

I just ordered three large packs of TP from Sam's Club.   Free shipping & around 30% cheaper than buying at the brick & mortar store.   BUT, you need a PLUS membership.

Prepping can be a lot of work.
I always keep a stash of canned goods,.... just in case.
So now that I have more time to fut around at home, I tried living off the canned goods for a while.
Think of it as practice for the zombie apocalypse.

What I learned so far:
1- pork and beans from 2018 still taste the same
2- I like canned corn a lot. :D
3- Those instant coffee packets from asia are really good to me.
4- vienna sausage makes omelets taste great and it works really good for obedience training your dogs.
5- Canned green beans are good to supplement dog food, but I don't particularly care for them.  >:(
6- Generic walmart pork-beans are pretty good.
7- Canned chili makes a great dip for tortilla chips.
8- I need a new can opener.

My daughter has the PLUS membership so she orders 1 pack for her and 1 pack for me and wife and sends both to our house.  She picks up her pack whenever since we watch her baby.

Beats going to the brick and mortar store and cheaper too.

Mormons have been preaching prepping for decades.
It seemed like common sense.

They have a "Prepper" handbook called Provident Living packed full of good stuff.
Food storage to finances, canning to cooking, coms, BOB's, medical, clothing, sanitation and more.

I have attached the 510 page 2012 edition in PDF below.
Combine that with my Katrina info and you're pretty GTG

Thanks Rocky.

Here is a funny story...
When I was a small kid many decades ago, my mom told me to take out the trash from the kitchen.
I took it out and put it in a rubbish can.
That rubbish can was actually the long term storage container for rice. Of course, the rice was ruined but it was a valuable learning experience.
