Hello, thinking of getting a Byrna non lethal pistol. Where are you legally allowed to carry this and where is it illegal to carry. I am getting conflicting information. Some stores are saying it’s legal to carry almost everywhere in oahu, and some say it’s not.

HI has no state law on BB guns if you're Byrna is loaded with the BB's. Same with pepper type loads.
Oahu does have an ordinance on not carrying a BB/air gun. No ordinance on carrying a pepper type device, besides buying and selling.
Take peoples word with a grain of salt Look up the laws/ordinances yourself. Google can help a lot.

Since Bryna uses CO2 , don't they fall under "Airsoft"?
I always have "Pepper gel" for "Just in Case" (thou i'd rather conceal carry my firearm)
Hope someone has the answers...i too own a Bryna but other issues (CO2 doesnt keep forever pierced etc) stored in my car.
Good Luck!

The ROH mentions a BB. So the plastic or steel ball that a Byrna can hold falls under this. But pepper ball is questionable. Paintball guns are mentioned specifically in the ROH as well.
A pepper spray also uses compressed gas to function. Food for thought.

ROH 41-12.3 applies to the pepper balls used by the Byrna Gun and makes possession and use of the balls themselves illegal.
Pepper spray itself is exempt from ROH 41-12.3 under ROH 41-12.4.
The more ya’ know.

I asked HPD if the Byrna was legal to carry last year.
This was their reply.

You can carry anything just about anywhere because of the second amendment, but the problem is the ever-expanding government blob doesn't see it that way and we are too much of a disappointment to our ancestors to do anything about it.
