Title: Registration - Caliber Change
Post by: kkt on November 03, 2024, 07:45:50 PM
A seller registered a pistol as 22lr but later converted it to 9mm, S/N unchanged.  I'm interested in purchasing but can I apply and register as 9mm even though current registration says 22lr?  Or does the seller need to re-register with HPD first?  If re-register, is the process as simple as him going down to re-register or is it a whole new pistol buying process for him?  Thanks.

Fill out the Permit to Acquire application with the existing caliber: 9mm.

When you get the permit and the firearm together, you have to register it.  The new registration under your name will be for a 9mm.

There's no reason for the current owner to update the old registration.  It's going to be superceded by your new registration anyway.

Thanks for the info.
