DDHQ projects that Republicans will retain US House majority
WASHINGTON, Nov 11 (Reuters) - Data provider DDHQ projected on Monday that
President-elect Donald Trump's Republican Party had won a majority in the U.S. House
of Representatives, which would signal that Republicans would hold a majority in
both chambers of Congress.
Edison Research has not yet projected House control. It has projected that Republicans
will hold at least 214 seats, including two currently held by Democrats, with Democrats
holding at least 205, with 16 uncalled. The smallest House majority is 218.
Republicans had already secured a U.S. Senate majority of at least 52-46, Edison Research projected.

Google still dragging their feet because they know the consequences are coming for their election interference.
Great news though, especially regarding plans to derail the transition.
It will be much more difficult to start a civil war now that every service member can see the clear mandate.

True, but for today, let us bask in this glorious feeling of victory. Before the hard work starts.
Tom Homan for ICE. wow, knocked that one out of the park.

Just saw an update:
GOP - 219
DEM - 210
That's one more than earlier and one above the 218 needed for a majority.

have to subract out 2: Elise Stefanik (R-NY) who's going to the UN, and Mike Waltz (R-FL) as National Security Advisor, both are House Representatives. and just read that Sen Marco Rubio (FL) got tagged for Secretary of State. Will have to backfill, but more importantly, may adversely affect congressional vote counts for passing early legislation until backfilled.
as I understand it.

NY will have to hold a special election to fill the seat, so there's no guarantee that will remain a GOP-occupied seat.
That means, even though it can be filled by April, they shouldn't depend on it for their majority. If they have a majority without that seat, it won't matter when it gets filled with regard to Trump getting his agenda started sooner.
Currently called House races total 210 + 219 = 429. So, 6 more seats to fill as of today. Hopefully one or two go (R) so the majority remains 218 or more for GOP.
i think the early Congressional focus will be on confirming Trumps appointees -- a Senate function. If he can get them done while Congress remains in recess, then he can appoint them for 2 years before confirmation is required. The problem is Obama abused recess appointments by waiting for a recess, then making appointments that were not unable to be done during Congress' session. Recess appointments were intended for emergencies, like a death needing a replacement, not to be a loophole for the required confirmation process.
I read Trump is looking at the recess angle, so it's up to whether he's allowed.

DDHQ shows at least 2 races yet to be called leaning Republican:
CA district 13: 51.1% (R) to 48.9% (D)
AK at-large; 49.6% (R) to 45.6% (D)
I feel somewhat confident about AK with 74% of the votes counted and a 4% (10,100+ vote) lead. Still, 26% is over 65,600 votes remaining to be counted.
The CA seat is pretty close with 63% of the votes counted, or 48,763 votes remaining to be counted.
p.s. The election was a week ago today. I guess when a race isn't going your way, you have to drag it out? :geekdanc:

The DNC is trying to figure out if it's worth cheating as many are on to them. But another factor is that there are little to no penalties for cheating.

well, first you have to calculate (estimate) how many votes you're short by, then send the order out to the printers, get them printed up, and then find the best time (3am?) to surreptitiously inject them with the uncounted ballots, and then allow the counting to proceed. These things take time, but rest assured, it's a well-oiled machine in operation.

First, though, they need to print enough to close the delta between the two candidates. Then they need a "reasonable" amount beyond that to make sure they have a comfortable lead in the event of a recount.
Depends on the state whether or not there are threshold for requesting recounts, how long after the election they can be requested, and whether there is a certain minimum margin before a recount is automatically performed.
In CA, for example, they have no automatic recounts. Anyone may request a recount.
The requestor must pay for the recount, but if the recount flips the results in favor of the
requestor, their money is refunded.
For multi-county or statewide races, the request must be made within five days starting
the 31st day after election day. For single-county races, the request must be made within
five days of the county canvass. No margin is required. There is no deadline for the
completion of voter-requested recounts. Deadlines vary for other types of requested
recounts.
Other states' recount rules may be much different.

The Harris-Walz campaign is now fundraising for a "recount account." Being $20M in debt, part of the funds will go to pay that down, and part will be set aside for recounts.
The fundraising page doesn't say that HER campaign will request a recount to get more electoral votes -- I think the margin of victory is too wide for any recount to flip it.
Speculation is the recounts will be funded in districts where House and Senate seats were won by Republicans in tight races.
I personally think this is a bait a switch tactic to pay off the debt the campaign incurred. If they request any recounts, it's unlikely the results will flip. That doesn't happen very often.

Alaska's House of Representative race finally called, pushing the House majority to 220 (218 minimum majority + 2).
This includes the PA recount, so unless that race gets flipped, 220 keeps the majority in the GOP's hands even if the 2 seats vacated for Trump's cabinet picks flip blue. With Gaetz resigning so quickly, his seat might be filled again before Trump is inaugurated keeping the majority intact. There's also a CA race leaning GOP that is yet to be called, so the Red Wave should be pretty much assured.

The PA Senate race recount is all but over.
The Pennsylvania Department of State said Thursday afternoon
the initial count of votes in all counties had been completed.
As of 5 p.m., incumbent Democratic Sen. Bob Casey trailed
Republican challenger Dave McCormick by 16,349 votes,
or a margin of 0.24%, compared with about 0.43% a week
earlier.
https://www.spotlightpa.org/news/2024/11/pennsylvania-election-recount-senate-bob-casey-dave-mccormick/
I also read that state law in PA requires that recounts must be performed with different scanners than were used originally. I like that. Helps eliminate the broken or compromised machine variables.

Sen. Bob Casey concedes
Pennsylvania Senate race to
Republican Dave McCormick
https://www.cnn.com/2024/11/21/politics/pennsylvania-senate-race-casey-concedes/index.html
A million dollars wasted on a recount.
There was never enough votes to make up the margin without discovering some discrepancy, malfunction, malfeasance, or counting illegal mail-in ballots.
It was Casey's prerogative to not waive the automatic recount, so he had the right. However, he already knew the numbers, so the recount was destined to provide the same outcome.
As it stands, before any musical chairs leading to Trump's cabinet begins, the Senate is 53 GOP to 47 Dems. That doesn't count Vance, who gets to settle any tied votes in the Senate. Also, any vacancies resulting from Trump's nominations (Rubio) will be filled by the governor, in Rubio's case, DeSantas. I'm confident Rubio's seat will go to another Republican.

The RNC was not passive like before. This year, they fired a bunch of RNC managers and put people in place trained to know the election laws, local policies and what they can and can't do while observing the casting and counting of ballots. They were briefed on the irregularities in prior elections telling them how to spot them and what to do about them.
Based on the small number of election interference reports and "weird" behavior at counting locations, the RNC's effort's worked. What was irregular was remedied on the spot, and what might have been tried was abandoned because of the increased scrutiny.
Then again, it might be that some of the people in 2020 who may have helped Biden didn't feel the same way about helping Kamala.
i think everyone was anticipating a repeat of the shenanigans and were surprised when it didn't happen.
Whoever is directly responsible, keep up the good work!

Lara Trump's interview:
RNC Opened Election Integrity offices all across the country to train local workers.
Poll watchers/workers goal: 100,000 people
Actual: 230,000 people
Lawyers to identify & deal with
problems, mostly volunteers: 6,500 lawyers
Sounds like an episode of The Apprentice, and Lara Trump's team made smart decisions, worked hard and won the challenge.
