I've seen them disregard the 1st and 2nd and 4th and 5th amendments. So they are willing to pick and choose what they want to enforce or not.

States receive federal funds for a wide range of reasons. One is to entice them to assist the feds with identifying and catching illegals.

Sanctuary cities pass rules and policies that say they will not notify ICE when they have an illegal in custody and hold them until the feds arrive to detain them.

Feds can't locate as many illegals as local LE, so their assistance is critical to enforcement.

i believe Trump said he wanted to reduce funding to sanctuary cities. I see that as a reasonable approach. You don't keep making payments to a payee who formally refuses to do what the funding is intended to pay for.
