It's by design. They want to have more crime so they can now try to ban other parts like barrels and slides.

Then online companies will not ship to HI anymore, like how some don't ship AR mags cause the AG sent them a letter some years ago saying that AR mags are illegal in HI. Yet they're trying to ban them. I guess make it illegal-er.

So I guess that you can open carry an AR, as long as it's not functional. So just keep the take down pin near the pistol grip open and the upper and lower open by 1/4 inch.  They do make a product that allows this. It was sold in CA where you need to separate the upper from lower in order to drop a mag and reload.

could also be that if they try and charge and convict somebody for Ghost Gun possession, this might be the 2A case that gets appealed all the way to the USSC regarding a persons' right to home-make a weapon.  And no AG wants to become the poster child for illegal 2A infringement.  No AG wants to get their peepee wacked.

Don't think that applies to Hawaii AG

If Anne Lopez is such a filthy democrip swine, why hasn't she proceeded to convict somebody of Ghost Gun possession.
I was under the impression these whakkos would be itching to make an example out of somebody for making a "ghost gun" against the "spirit of aloha".

My guess is there are giant holes in the law that they know about, and it's easier to ram people through the system on outer islands because the lawyers are double dealing lapdogs over there.
