Do they have anything in or they sold out as far as ak, ar, and saiga 12?
-
I was there Friday and they only had 2 ARs that were about $2600 each. The rest were 9mm or .22 lr. They still had a WASR and the Yugo M70.
Don't know about the Saiga 12, I wasn't looking at shotguns.
-
Not much left at all unless you're looking for a pistol(s). I was there Friday too.
I did see some AKs though. Not sure about the prices since I was in a hurry, and they were super busy.
I think X-Ring got a "shipment" of AKs. You might want to check with them too. That was about a week and a half ago.
2 Weeks ago, Gunsources had 1 AK left from Century. I think he was asking 900 for it.
-
last time i went was before their christmas shutdown. all i saw on the ak wall was a sks going for 350. probably gone by now though.
x2 for x-ring. was there last friday & saw a boatload of slavshit on consignment. probably the most ak's i've seen all in one place ever since SHTF. dunno how much they going for, though.
-
We have about six different ak/vepr models in stock plus saiga pg shotguns and ruger mini 14s

I'm surprised and disappointed OGC succumbed to price gouging.
It was already hard enough to buy anything but ammo there (internet is quite a bit cheaper.. as much as they try to claim otherwise) but I tried to do my part to support local business however now that I see they're jacking up the prices I'll be sure not to send any more of my business their way.
Hell even ammo is easy enough to ship in via freight forwarder. Unless you're buying a few boxes at a time (in which case there's plenty of places on island that are cheaper).

Right now demand > supply. The demand curve has shifted far right.
Like I said before it is inelastic in the short run. I don't think these short bursts of demand are good for the long term gun industry but it is what it is. Businesses exist for profit.

The gun stores are the victims of their suppliers.
The suppliers have raised costs across the board and the gun stores can buy or not have inventory.
The gun stores that pay higher costs have no choice but to raise their selling price as well.

nothing beats being able to actually handle your firearm before you buy,

OGC has always kept their prices low until they couldn't afford it. If their prices are high, it's because the distributors and suppliers they buy from have raised their prices.

This time it even goes as far as the manufacturers. We are seeing 15 to even 30 percent hikes on products that wouldn't even be considered for a potential ban!
You will notice that the lines that haven't changed their prices, like sig and s&w are exactly the same price at OGC as they always were. I'd very much like an example of what you consider us price gouging so we can open up the math. I'm not being confrontational, or calling anybody out, I'm really willing to share the cost basis differences.

One was an LWRC SPR that was actually 2899 that sold and the other is a JP competition stainless match that is for sale for the same. These aren't CMMGs or such we were trying to profiteer on... But high dollar high end.
Some AKs have gone crazy... For example we used to pay $679 for yugo under folders this year and sell them for $899. The two we just got cost us $979 and we are selling them for $1299. That's actually a decrease from a 25.47 margin to 23.86%. Yeah we are price gouging, making less margin per sale.
And if you want to compare ammo costs please actually order the ammo online and see what happens. We have to pay premiums to actually get ammo now rather than be backordered. Most of the online dealers are completely sold out and are taking preorders that they sometimes don't tell you about until after they have your money.
It's really easy to anonymously just start bashing businesses on public forums isn't it.

+1. For example, Mako Group, which imports stuff from Israel, reports that they've stopped answering the phones and have every employee from CEO to stock boy stuffing AR magazines into boxes and sending them out the door. MagPul is running maximum capacity, 24/7 to try and keep up with demand. When manufacturers or major importers are running at that pace, their costs go up. Keeping the lights on and machinery running 24 hours a day increases overhead. Paying overtime increases overhead. All of these costs are inevitably passed on to the consumer; the only other option is for these companies to operate at a loss, or at least make less profit per unit sold. The purpose of a business is to make money for the owners--if they don't make money, they'll stop making products we all want.
-
Magpul has publicly stated they are not increasing any of their prices.
I placed an order for 10 PMAGs at $12.99 each last week at Brownells and they just shipped today. Magpul is pumping these out at MSRP and when you see $30 PMAGs its obvious who's doing the hiking. Claiming anything else is just dishonest.

Did you at least get free shipping?

Did you at least get free shipping?
Sure did.
-
You want to see price gouging? Go to Honolulu Firearms. :shake:
Even .223 reloads (55gr) are hard to find. I haven't found any online places that have them in stock.
-
how are you back ordering on Brownells? i havent been allowed to backorder pmags for 3 weeks. at least i managed to backorder a couple of lancer mags. and bought some upgrade kits for USGI mags.

Not sure, I just checked now and its not letting me back order. I have a second order pending I placed 3 days ago for some more M3s, we'll see how those go.
A few of my friends placed orders for PMAGs on Christmas Eve and they've received them already.

I don't know why you're responding to me about price gouging and complaints about it. I never said anything in this thread about unfair prices. In fact, I totally understand your position and how the suppliers are raising prices. Some of the other posters were whining about prices being raised, not me.
The OP asked what was on the shelves and I told him what I could remember. (Of course, I was off about the price on the ARs.)
Forum etiquette is that if you quote someone, your comments in your post are in response to them.
-
I don't know about Forum etiquette.
But IMO they clearly were not responding to you. Your post was clean, and much appreciated by all of us here on 2A.
It appears they were responding to your post as it prompted ill-informed posts down the line about price gouging. They were just providing the information.
The minute I saw your post, I knew the AR prices had to be for some High End ARs but apparently not everyone is familiar with OGC.
Just giving a thrid party perspective. And keep up the informative posts SST.

Yep! I've been in the shop when Carter has offered to pull out his invoices, showing exactly what it costs him to bring some of that stuff in. At the end of the day, they need some profit margin to stay in business and I am 1000% good with that!
-
I'll always buy from any of our local gun stores!!!! Support local business cause without them we wouldn't have shit!!!
I think the stress of all this panic buying has gotten to everyone....

Have you ever tried ammo/gun internet orders? Once all the shipping, FFL hazmat fees etc add up you'll be likely over the in store price. I'm not saying that is the case with every sale but its not as simple as just the price you see online. OGC and the majority of our LGS try their best to get the best prices out there but higher inventory prices from the manufacturers have to be pushed onto the customers.
-
No offense to anyone but, Waah Waah.
WTF do you expect if you wait until now to buy your guns and ammo.
You don't hear me complaining about lines, prices, inventory or gouging.
In life timing is everything.
Not everyone can have hundreds of guns and a hot wife like me.

Thanks KK I was waiting for someone to say it.

lol tell em KK

It's a free market, the sole purpose of a business is to make the maximum profit. If the price is too high, shop somewhere else. Although a smart business will also make sure they keep their customers in the long run.
To add to the other posts, if a business sells their stuff cheap in a time like this, alot of people will buy stuff up just to resell it at higher prices. I'm sure alot of those pmags and firearms gun stores sold are already being resold now.

I agree. free market. But you whine on a different level.
While you dont complain about LGSs and their prices, you do ad stomp, insult and low ball personal ads here.

i been buying what i could afford and i am at the point where i dont need another gun ..... But another ak or ar would just fit nicely in my safe (not that i can afford one after the baby's dr bill i got today :'( :'( :'( )
now on OGC prices " OGC TRYS TO KEEP THEIR PRICES LOW" right now shit cost a lot because of the demand ..... thats the way it is .... and as for all the gun stores "THEY ARE THE GOOD GUYS" they are participating in an industry that is very volatile and as far as laws and regulations are concern "insane" if a AWB goes through how many of these gun stores are going to stay in business and to what extent modern sporting rifles are a large chunk of their sales... Imagine you're a business owner and you learn that possibly in the months or so 80% of your business will be wiped out and you know it could happen... You are responsible for all your employees your bills and your rent along with your household payments ... Now let's say that no ban of any kind goes thru .... the market is flooded and firearms accessories and ammunition... there is a chance of their business could drop off to nothing because of the surplus .... I don't know how any of these gun shop owners can sleep at night .... So it's back off of them and get :stopjack: of how are the shelves at ogc .... or any other gun store

Sorry, I know, I was just expanding on what you said.

An sgl20, two slr106s (5.56) coming in, the LWRC is a m6a5

anybody who wants to complain about supposed "price gouging" should either open their own business or work at a retail shop and figure out what it takes to get a good product at a fair price. If you don't like what any particular store is charging, don't shop there. simple as that. to claim that they are price gouging is uneducated and unfair. I'm not making excuses or apologies for anyone, I'm just stating that it's really difficult to run a profitable business with lots of happy customers.
-
I'm testing my patience and trying to wait this whole thing out.
-
I payed $471 (+22 for tax = $493.19 OTD) for a shotgun from OGC, buds has the same gun $481+$40 for an FFL = $521..I can't complain.. You people need to understand that we are an island.

Don't forget shipping.
They charge $25 shipping for long guns to Hawaii.

I disagree. Business is more than making the maximum profit, especially in Hawaii. In the construction business (which by the way is pretty damned cut throat) it isn't about that. As much as anything it's a sustainable business and relationships mean a lot.
Even Tony has learned that. If you guys don't remember he sold some really overpriced stuff the last time around. While his prices are up he's not nutz right now like the last time...........you guys can thank OGC for coming in with a different business model that is forcing the other shops to adapt and sell at reasonable prices.
-
I'm not complaining, just explaining why I will no longer make the extra effort to support local businesses who partake in price gouging.
-
stopped by OGC today just to check things out. it was so weird to get a parking spot up front. pretty mellow on account of inventory. they got a few sporter aks and an underfolder, an lwrc and an fs2000. they had a few carbine 22lrs including an m1a version and you know what I score a couple of pmag too. at a fair market price.
-

Me thinks that all this talk about what is on OGC's shelves are helping them sell what they have left in inventory. Unexpected consequences to those complaining here who feel OGC price gouges!

I was there yesterday and I saw some AK's still on the wall and like 4 AR's on the other wall, I don't know the caliber though.
There was one lower in the glass case, pice looked pretty good too.

Which is why I stated "Although a smart business will also make sure they keep their customers in the long run. ", basically maximum profit not just in the short term, but the long term too.
