Shooting illustrated has a couple of articles on how to put together an AR15 from scratch. The first part covers the assembly of the lower and the second part covers the upper. Each part goes through step by step and covers pretty much everything you will need to know including an often skipped step of headspace gauging.

I think is is a pretty good article. The pictures are a little small but should be enough to get everything working. The links are below.
