I took a handgun safety course and CCW course early last month. Applied for PTA for handgun and long gun. ( CCW application will be later) Now its been 48 days. Called Friday to ask if permits were ready. "They will be ready on Monday they said". I got a message on Monday saying "looks like you answered yes on mental health (very minor) so need to get sign off from your PCP". Called back and asked why 48 days? "Oh, well you applied in different district. Piles of PTA for each days. You need to contact PCP for heads up". So did that. So what have they been doing for 48 days??? Then today I get a message saying. "Oh, You need to pick up form to give to the PCP to sign off. " ?????

They were sitting on it for 45 days.

I just called. Appendex A(?) for my PCP to sign off. She said she will no problem. Also asked about CCW. Figured that I would have to pay $150 but since I had one that expired last year, its $50. I will be doing that tomorrow.

The forms were sent to the docs office supposedly but when I called the office, they did not receive it. Also doc was on vacation and didn't get back untill the 14th. Doc gave me the signed off forms on Thursday and I turned them in on Friday. Picked up the PTAs at the Pahoa station this afternoon. Same signed form will be used for the ccw alpplication. Finally!

Had picked up firearm, called in for registration to be sent by email. No registraiton papers yet. Emailed July 28 since it was almost 2 week and was told that they were backed up. So, should I just keep the handgun in the cabinet until I get the registration paper by email?

I ask myself one question: is there any difference in the legality of having that "unregistered" firearm in your safe vs. having it in your car/at the range?
The answer I find is "no difference." in fact, the moment you picked up the firearm, you are driving around with an unregistered firearm in your possession.
You're given a certain timeframe to submit the registration application. if you did that, then getting the form back is an administrative step which doesn't affect the fact you registered it.
I'm not a cop nor a lawyer, but I've read of cases where a firearm was discovered to be unregistered (but not being used in the commission of a crime). The police simply asked the owner to register it. Gun buyers who waited until after the mandatory timeframe have gotten calls from HPD gently reminding them that the firearm they purchased hasn't been registered yet -- they know because the seller notified them they sold it.
If you want the take it to the range, just have your emails handy in case anyone ever asks. I doubt the question will ever be raised.

This reminds me of my terrible experience getting a permit for my deck. Had to come back to the office to walk the application from one city office to a different one. The offices were in the same room, 20 feet from each other. Later when something was ready they made me pick it up in Kapolei. I asked them if they could ship it back to town since I live in town and they said they don't transfer applications (how did it end up in Kapolei then?!) Took me like 6 trips for what should have been 2....

The pistol was from a LGS. I called in for the registration to be emialed to me right after I picked it up. Today, I called in to register some rifles and reminded them of the registration paper for the pistol. I finally got it. Thanks.

You can buy deck materials but without installation you have no deck.

HPD firearms section website says nothing about acquiring a deck.

Rifle registration came in by email on Tuesday. Now waiting for another permit for a handgun. Still waiting on the cloncealed carry license. A lady that worked in the firearms office before came backso it should be a little better.

Pahoa HPD left a message yesterday to call back. Called and said PTA ready. I went there and got the handgun PTA and then an envelope. CCW too. Finally. :)
