I am considering taking ownership of a few handguns from my brother. I do understand that I must complete a handgun safety course with certification, but I do not know how to start the registration process with HPD? According to HPD policies, I must have a receipt from a gun store that I am purchasing with the model, make, serial number and barrel length listed, when applying for a handgun permit, but what is one to do when the guns are being given from a family member??

Get all the info. Make, model#, caliber, barrel length, s/n to apply for the permit to acquire. Maybe just take the original reg with u? Oh and u still gotta get fingerprinted

Yup. Easiest way to not miss any information would be taking the original registration sheet with you. Pick up a long-gun permit while you're at it!
