Title: Stainless 1911 or Armory-Kote 1911
Post by: CILent on July 21, 2026, 07:00:07 PM
I am going to be purchasing a Springfield Armory TRP.  They have a stainless one and an armory koted one in stock.  I am wondering what would be better in the longterm for living Hawaii?  I plan to move there to finish a degree and would be there for several years.  I am not sure what would be a better investment as I would like to stay long term as I may end up with a job there as well.

I would go with stainless since it inherently resists rust. It should be easy to touch up with a clp "soak" and a brass brush. I also prefer the look on a 1911.

Armory Kote may wear away over time if you intend to use a holster, use your gun, etc. Leaving the metal exposed and slightly higher possibility of pitting if you don't catch it in time.

Ymmv!  :shaka:

Thank you for the information.  I ended up ordering a stainless TRP.  I cannot wait to receive it.
