here we go again.
dammit people, can you just stop fucking up for like, 2 months?
-
Don't you just love how the media mentions the semi-automatic military style rifle. :wtf:
-
doesn't this seem strange all these shootings in the last 2 months?
-
Normally this one wouldn't be reported...
-
Very sad. And very peculiar that there are so many strings of shootings it's just fueling the fire
-

Not strange at all. Same thing like when an earthquake happens then all you hear about on the news is earthquakes. The whole Manti Te'o online girlfriend BS. I've seen multiple articles about others soon after. It's just the hot topic for the time being. Plus with the wording like Dbinaknak mentioned about 'military style rifle', they're probably trying to influence people with the 'dangers' of these types of rifles.
-
Semi-automatic military style rifle they say. The rash of shootings just keep fueling the fire, which is an enabler for politicians to pass insane laws and get away with it because the vast majority of the general public buys into the spin the liberals put on it, and don't take the time to do any real assessment of true facts about firearms.

yea, true that. Its a hot topic and the media are all over it right now.

since when does the media care about facts????
-
the only reason this might not get a whole lot of airtime? they were family. people care more about the indiscriminate shootings. if its family, it doesnt really fit the profile of the danger to society.

General public, not media.

Maybe but does have the assault weapon spin. I recall the recent shooting in a school with a shotgun and it didn't get hardly any media attention. Probably because it wasn't an assault style rifle.
-
General public, not media.
thanks for clarification. As far as general public, the general public on the left doesn't seem to care about facts or logic.

more likely because no one was killed.
-
more likely because no one was killed.
If the weapon was an AR or AK it would have been played more, even if he wasn't successful at killing them...it was at a school. A shotgun doesn't fit their agenda. JMHO

It was an ar15. HOW CONVENIENT EH?

Anti depressants
^^ This. If you're over 35, ask yourself: how many kids you grew up with were on Prozac, luvox, or paxil? There's way more now, I swear, even in the most liberal of schools you will probably find more kids on prescription meds instead of weed (and despite coming from a right-wing conservative family, I'd rather deal with the pot heads).
For those of you who don't know, my part-time job is with AMR as a paramedic. We do mostly inter-facility transfers, including taking psychiatric patients to Kahi Mohala. I have seen kids as young as 9 on meds and being transported with a diagnosis of "suicidal ideation", but early teens and young adults are far more common. When I was in high school, Ritalin was just starting to show up. Parents and teachers were mostly against it, questioning the need for a prescription to regulate behavior. Nowadays, it seems that these meds are over-prescribed. Granted, there are those out there with a valid need for it, but I think a lot of parents are turning to meds before thoroughly exhausting other options.
The drug lobby is arguably the toughest to fight. TV commercials now advertise how you can get your first prescription for free or how they will get meds to you even if you can't afford them. This should be raising some serious red flags, especially considering that Obama is looking at having more and more doctors render people mentally unfit to own a firearm. Those teenagers who have been put on meds as a knee-jerk reaction will have a record that will follow them and bar them from gun-ownership. If anything, there needs to be a way for us to get politicians to acknowledge the link between anti-depressants and violent behavior. They are the common denominator, not semi-auto rifles.

NRA will never go up against Big Pharma. That's a whole different league.

that's not even the NRA's fight anyways. they're here to stop legislation, not gain moral victories.
-
Not moral victories, but they are going to point the finger at video games and not address over medication when pretty much all school shootings have that in common?
-

yes, because its deflection. the point isnt to prove a point, its to take the public's attention off of one thing and place it on another, and video games are much mroe of a sore issue with the public, because of the genreational divide and because there have always been assumptions that violent media affects kids.
-
I see where you are coming from, but here's something all the school shootings had common with solid cause/effect relationship but the NRA, politicians, and the media won't touch it with a ten foot pole.
Look at it this way. NRA spends 7.2 million a year on lobbying (legalized bribery). Big Pharma spends about 188 million. They are drug dealers, just like Tony Montana, and every one is too scared to f with them. These are the people who wrote Obamacare and Bush's medicare disaster. They want you, me, and everybody else on expensive pills from cradle to grave even if it means having the government forcing it down our throat.
You like guns too much? There's a pill for that.

that's not the point. its more politically viable to pick a topic that already has public support because its always brought up any time they have a shooting, than to pick a fight with another lobby that NO ONE cares about publicly.
-
I don't have the time to research this to a huge extent. But I want to say that I read somewhere (And I believe it to be true) that mass murders of one type or another occurs every two weeks here in the U.S. Assuming that is true then all that is happening is that the big news agencies are reporting them more often. Probably due to extent that they want gun control as much as our government does.
So its not so much that it is happening all together. It's going to happen and its the reporting that is not happening all the time.

Add another shooting to the growing list, today in a texas college..more news to come
-
It may appear to have been shooter vs shooter. Most likely one person who was confronted that person was armed as well. He responded with force on force 2 people shot in crossfire. This occured in Huston Lone Star College.
Tune in live right now 940 am

Another shooting :( :( :(
Gunman reported at Texas college

Texas shooting sounds gang related. Doesn't fit the narrative.
-
two people were in an altercation. one guy shot, two innocent people caught in the crossfire and another person had a heat attack. 2nd gunman still to be found
-
Look, another shooting:
Las Vegas officer kills wife, son and then himself in burning home (http://www.cnn.com/2013/01/22/justice/nevada-police-murder-suicide/index.html?hpt=hp_t3)
This is getting out of hand. Clearly we need to disarm the police too.
-

and the reason why no one cares? maybe because the politicians and the media are in their pocket? four billion with a B in advertising revenue every year and you think news stations aren't covering this because nobody is interested?

We need to outlaw homes, too. After all, people can be incinerated in them like these maniac did to his family.
Better yet, we should restrict the use of fire because it can kill. Yep. Let's have Obama create a Fire Czar that will send specially trained fire handlers to every home, so the usage of fire in crimes will be greatly impacted.

Doesn't fit the old narrative but fits the new one just fine.......Ready........ "this is why we can't allow people to carry guns at schools because they will shoot each other!"
