Title: Useful targets
Post by: Tom_G on August 19, 2010, 11:45:07 AM
I get comments about these when I'm at the range, so I thought I'd share.  I never could find a target for purchase that I was completely happy with for the purposes of sighting in, so I made my own.  These are designed to be printed on 11x17 paper.

First, for iron sights.  I like this because there's no subjective judgment about where the center of a bullseye is.  Balance the tip of the triangle on your front sight.  (Yes, the target is upside-down in the image.  It was much easier to draw that way.)  When printed on 11x17 paper, the grid is 1".  This is clearly visible at 100 yards, and visible enough at 200.

I like this one for scopes.  The tips of the diamond line up with the crosshairs.  You can use the 6 black diamonds and the 2 implied white ones.  Again, when printed on 11x17 paper, the grid is 1".

I usually run these off on the office copy machine in small batches, but   the quality is pretty variable that way.  You can also email the file   to Kinkos and they'll run them at single-sided copy prices.

Thanks. 6mmbr (http://www.6mmbr.com/targets.html) also has some not quite as useful targets for people looking.

I really like the triangle one for open sights. I would have never thought of that.
Very easy to dail in your 6 oclock hold, or even a dead on hold. Sweet. Thank you Tom-g
