Another controversy, do you like aimpoint or Eotech? I haven't used an Eotech but would like to hear opinions....
-
Depends on what you're using it on.
AR platform, I'll take an Eotech.
AK platform, give me a T1 or H1
-
Aimpoint. I love being able to turn it on and leave it in the closet, knowing I wouldn't have to change it for 5 years.
-
try out the eotech. see if you like it.
Eotech is easier for me to sight. Aimpoint seems like I'm looking through a tube
-
I have both, well three. EoTech 512 and Aimpoint T-1 and CompM4. The EoTech was my first red dot, so I got used to it. But now I prefer the T-1 did it's compact size and long battery life. I've had to replace the batteries on the EoTech twice already and I don't even leave it on.
They are both excellent sights though.

T1, superb battery life, and super light weight. Try checking out the Daniel Defense M4 abuse video, the Aimpoint on the rifle takes a damn beating and keeps on ticking. Made me decide on a T1 for my AR.

Aimpoint has a cleaner dot and less parallax error, but the Eotech has a biger window and is faster to aquire.
-
aimpoint

If your under 35 years old, irons

Haha, this means if you can still see clearly.

Bro sometimes I think I need the 4 moa dot on the highest setting. For all you young bucks, just wait and see. ;D

At my rifle course I took at Frontsight, I couldn't hardly see the 18"x12" target at 200 yards.
I need an optic with some type of magnification.

Can you mount a tele scope on the AR? :) :) sorry I couldn't resist.....
Just Kidding

Were the plates blending in with the background? I'm usually ok with no magnification if the plate is in sunlight and not the same general color as the backdrop.
The 450 gong/plate at Kokohead that's up in that little crevass, I have a tough time seeing it from certain angles, especially when it's in the shade because the plate is dark (or at least the one that was up was dark).
-
I got an aimpoint comp m4 cowitnessed with my iron sight on my ar15 works verry well. No complaints with the 2moa dot with 15 level brightness settings and night vision compatible very good optic
-
I have an Aimpoint PRO now and prefer it a lot more than the Eotech I used to have. The Eotech just seemed to make me focus on the reticle and dot too much.

I'm old and blind.

Aimpoint all the way! Way longer battery life! I have a aimpoint pro, can get them at ogc for about 400 bucks, includes mount.
Was gonna go with the eotech 553 but the red dot looks much fuzzier
-
Speaking of magnification.... ACOG 3x all the way
-
I like my aimpoint pro. Save money since it comes with a mount. Not as long battery life as a comp, but still pretty damn long. I have a primary arms micro dot which is like a t1 but with a fraction of battery life. I will someday also buy an eotech
-
I like both. If I can be so bold as to post my pros and cons of each. I think that there is no right or wrong answer. Both of these optics are tough as hell, I've seen videos of both being run over, dropped, smashed and keep on ticking.
Eotech pros-
-Generally cheaper than aimpoints
-Larger sight window for fast aquisitions and better co-witnessing iron sights
-More modesl to choose from to adapt to different battery types
-I find the circle and dot to be faster aquisition than just a dot. I also enjoy having a 1 moa dot vs a 2 or 4 moa as are on most aimpoints.
Cons
-Slightly less "tough" than aimpoints, though I've seen many destruction videos and it takes ALOT to hurt one of these suckers
-Less battery life than an aimpoint (still impressive though)
-When its raining heavily, the window is more suceptable to getting wet or foggy
Aimpoint pros
-Arguably slightly tougher than eotech. Probably due to farther recessed glass and a more robust "tight" construction
-Ridiculously long battery life
-Less prone to water/rain interfering in glass, though the eotech would be easier to clean
Cons
-More expensive
-Smaller sight window, slightly slower aquisitions
-I prefer the circle and dot vs just the dot. I'd rather have a 1 moa dot rather than 2 or 4.
-
depending on your eyes. I love the eotech reticle but without my glasses the reticle turns into a blob and completely paints the target
Now with the aimpoint that dot will just have flares around it without my glasses.
I would buy a Primary arms aimpint clone that has the multi reticle feature and just try diffrent reticles to seee what works for you

My next AR will probably use a RMR.

The RMR's are extremely durable and the battery lasts for a century but the window is small.
I have one on a Benelli M2

Same thing. Learn how to use anything. That way no excuses when you miss!

I've owned both and stayed with Aimpoint (Micro H-1). I have mine mounted on my. S&W Model 41. On a side note, I like the Ultradot Matchdot on my Mark III Hunter pistol. Eotech used to be on my AR-15. Now I use Leopold scope.
