Just curious to see what most people keep as a reserve from ammo shortages. So far I have at least 1500-2000 9mm and a lot of .22, some .45 and 10mm. I'm now trying to stock up on 5.56 but it just trickles in so slow to Hawaii. So what does your stock pile look like?

wow thats quite a bit of ammo you got :worship:
-
I'm down to about 100 rounds of 5.56 M855 Ball and just over 200 rounds of 9mm. Maybe a box of .45 ACP and that's about it.

Damn! Thats impressive!
Actually it used to be more. KK sold off a bunch of ammo a few weeks back.
I've lost count of my ammo, I only know I got an unopened case of 1000 XM193. Few hundred M855 and 9mm with 4-5 bricks of .22LR spread out amongst several ammo cans. Couple boxes of 12ga 00 buckshot with a few boxes of 12ga #8 birdshot leftover from last time I went skeet shooting, I usually don't keep trap/skeet loads on hand and just buy the day before I plan on going to KKHSC.

As an active hobbyist, I only keep a few hundred of this n' that. But since I reload almost all of my own ammo, I keep enough components to last for a long time. Perhaps several years. :D
I feel sorry for active competitive shooters. When I was an active competitor, I used hundreds per week. That is tough to do in the current market. :(
-
More than a little, less than a lot.
Seriously though, I mainly shoot 5.56/.223 and 9 mm and have a good amount of both. I could use some more 9 mm, but I have enough that I can wait for a sale that I like to come around.
I could use some more 7.62.x39 though. Since I only recently got my first AK last November, I havent' shot it much nor been able to stock up on ammo. I could also use a bunch of 22 lr, but I figure there will always be 22 lr available for relatively cheap.
I have a bunch of 40 S&W too, but I rarely shoot that gun. The ammo that I do have mostly goes to my friend when we hit the range.

Got a lot more than I thought I did.............. :D

I can't believe what people are paying for ammunition nowadays.
I can ride this out for a couple of years and see where the prices of before I start to worry.

Got any extra 7.62x39? ;)
Depending on how much I shoot, I think I can comfortably go through this year with 5.56/.223 and maybe 9 mm. Depends how many matches I shoot this year.
-
enough
-
Not as much as I'd like.
But mostly because the &^%! range closed before I zeroed in on loads for my rifles. Argh. Once I know what the best load is I can make enough without much trouble.
I made enough for self defense, though. More than enough. At at those ranges the differences in accuracy between max loads and tuned loads won't make any difference.

Extra?
What does that mean?
::)

Is that the same as the guy who asks a smoker if he has a extra cigaret? :D

.38 sp - 500

.22LR - 6000

2k in just 338 lapua
Enough heads ,shells and primers for another k :( but no powder
Some 308 ,45, 556 to last a while
-
watched that show "Doomsday Preppers" a few times.
the episodes i watched, the people had plenty of food.
but a few of them, only had a couple hundred rounds of ammo.
seems to me if you are preparing for doomsday, better have at least 10,000 rounds to fend off looters.

Enough to last me through the shortages and this scare (I hope).
-
Not enough! Without giving out specifics, Plenty to last awhile of normal shooting but I'm notwilling to shoot what I can't replace especially when it comes down to .308, .45 and 9mm. There is now way I'll pay inflated prices. Hopefully it comes down by summer cause I'm stuck shooting .22lr til then.
-
Every time there is a sale, I buy the max allowed. I have about 1000 rounds each of 9mm, 45 acp, and 357
-
I have about a 1000 rounds in each caliber I own. Except for .22lr I'm closer to 4,000. Just like brother Stang... I'll plink them to death too.

I just picked up a case of .40 from the local FEMA camp by Kapolei; DHS just got a new shipment in
.223 should be here in a few weeks.

Don't go showing that on you tube.
Ammo will be more valuable than gold and silver in a real WORL.
I just saw some guy on you tube showing his 4,000 PMC X-Tac.
Good job.

The latest Brownells update -- https://ga.brownells.com/UserDocs/Webbencharchive/June2013WebBench.htm -- describes how some firearms parts shortages are easing, but adds:
"With all this good news, there is still some not-so-good news. We all already know it, but ammo remains hard to get, and it looks like the situation will stay that way for a while. Demand is just so high right now that even with factories adding shifts and running 24/7, there’s just not enough to go around."
-

My buddy bought most of the FMJ ammo that I had left. All I have left is some HP ammo that I keep around the house. Rest FMJ I have is 9 mm. Seeing more 40 in stock lately with decent pricing, so hopefully availability and price will continue to improve.

Never enough--I'm always looking for a good deal!

Just enough to keep my wife pissed off every time we get the credit card bill.

It really depends on the volume I'm shooting that month, and how much extra money I have to spend.
Usually the only ammo I'm stocked deep with is .22lr, used to be I never had less than 5 or 6 bricks laying around, but lately I've been burning thru my .22lr like crazy and haven't quite restocked yet. I think I have about a brick and a half left.
I think I have about 500 or so some odd rounds of xm193 from the last case I bought. I'm crossing my fingers that prices will drop below $400 a case before I restock.
.308... well I burned thru all of mine. I think I only have a random box somewhere. Its just getting too pricey to shoot in volume. Makes me sad...
My .30/30 I have about 5 or 6 boxes of hunting ammo laying around. This isn't so much a high volume shooter as it is a practical meat getter.
Sad to say I burned thru all my .45acp in the last few months. I did my first ipsc shoot, brought my uncle to the shooting range while he was visitng, and then brought a friend to the range for the first time. I think I burned thru close to 500 rounds. All I have left is 3 magazines of my defensive ammo, and I box of 230grain fmj. Good news is my XDM is holding up like a champ. Looking back at ammo prices though, I shoulda bought a damn 9mm...
I don't stock too much buckshot or slugs. I think I have about 100 or so rounds of buckshot, and maybe 3 boxes of slugs. I just don't shoot that stuff thru it ever. I do buy 7 1/2 birdshot for trap shooting by the case though. I think I have 6 boxes left from the last case. I'll usually only shoot 3 or 4 or so matches on a sunday.
Yea, I'd like more, I think I gotta focus and look for a good deal on bulk .45acp.
-
I have enough to load 6000 rounds of 9mm, 3000 rounds of .40, 1000 rounds of .38, 1000 rounds of .223; I hav ea case 7.62, 5000+ rounds of .22lr, and about a case in all the calibers we shoot for class 9mm, 40, 45. Not nearly as much as Keoni, but I will run out of zombies before I run out of ammo.
Oh yeah! I just got two cases of .30-06 from the CMP so that is 400 rounds.
-
You can never have too much ammo ;D
Me..
.22LR- Over 6K
.223/5.56- Over 1,200rds
9mm- Over 600rds
-
500- 223/556
1200-9mm
1300-.40
1500-.22lr most of it cci minimag
200- .30-06
200-12 gauge buck &slug
150- .357 sig. Rarely shoot this caliber
Over the past 9 years I would buy a few boxes here and there, the ammo shortages didn't bother me at all, I reload as well, and have enough components to add another 400-500 rounds for everything mentioned above, aside from .22 of course, and 12 gauge. I just need the spent brass. A few years ago, I found 3 bricks of .22 ammo, all three of them were Federal, one box was even match if I remember correctly and they were all about 3/4 full, and the people just left it behind like it was trash. Thanks to them, I was able to feed my 10/22 without having to crack open the minimags.
