Title: Savage MKII FV-SR w/Mueller APV
Post by: chucke25 on February 28, 2013, 05:32:24 PM
First time out shooting a rifle today.  First off the Savage is a  good fun rimfire to shoot.  I took 6 shots to zero in the Mueller and off I went.  I do need some tips on how to get a good cheek weld because I don't always get a good view through the scope.  Do I just need practice looking through the scope or is there some fundamentals that I could follow to get a better sight picture?

Aloha,
Chucke

You may not have mounted the scope correctly. What you should do is position yourself with the rifle how you would normally shoot it. (benchrest, prone, standing...) and with your scope loose in the rings move the scope to where it works best for where you naturally want to be. Also- you may want to consider ring height as another factor in this. It does not look like you have super high rings on there but one example would be someone with rings so high they cannot get a good cheek weld on the factory stock anymore.

Then again you may just not be used to looking through a scope. There really is only a small sweet spot that will provide a full picture and on higher zoom settings it gets even smaller.
