Apparently someone shot demselve on da archery side of Koko Head shootin complex. Why at da range???
-
Because the law says there are only a few places you can legally possess a firearm. The range is one of them!
Such a law-abiding soul ... right to the very end!

How did you hear it was on the archery side of the range ?
Was it really in the range or at the lookout ?

Showed up he was sittin on da floor next to da benches wit a back pack next to him
Wen da cops approached him n asked him a few questions he apparently pulled out a pistol
N we all kno wat Happened after dat. My question is why at da range it got enough BS.. Mahalo

my friend's brother who's a cop confirmed

It's sad whenever someone shoots themselves, but why at the range and in front of other people? Going to have more bad publicity at the range, and gave the cop nightmares for the rest of his life. Though I guess at least it wasn't suicide by cop.

Similar to why some people have to jump off overpasses into rush hour traffic! No consideration for the people that have to deal with the mess they create!
I realize these folks are needing help, but the rest of us have done nothing to deserve sharing in their misery!

My prayers out to him and his family. Do you mean today? Today is thursday the 11th

Could be mental illness.
Could be the individual's last and final "F YOU," to the world.
Could be the individual's last and final desperate plea for help.
Could be the individual's last and final attempt to obtain, through death, the recognition or validation that the individual could never achieve in life.
We'll never know.
RIP... hope this cat finds some peace in the afterlife.
New Guy yes we will never know. but I hope so too..

if someone is at the point where they feel their only option is to end their lives, why would they care about inconveniencing others if they don't even care about themselves?

Attention?

I'm sad for his family and especially for the people that had to witness that happen. But I'm happy that he didn't go around killing anyone.

Maybe he was anti-gun guy trying to accomplish a goal.

Great way to do so, who doesn't know that news agencies don't generally report suicides.

I'm not totally for sure but I remember ahwile back when someone I knew off themself that the media does not report on suicides because of some reason I can't remember all I know is that the can't. So not really a cover up more like a policy.

I would suspect if there is an unofficial policy it would be because suicides that generate a lot of press and perceived notoriety (to the one considering such an act) can potentially trigger a copycat who is contemplating suicide. Don't know but that would be my guess if there is such a policy.

They should do the same thing if there ever is a mass shooting. Don't put a face to the name. Or even mentioned the name. Someone could copy them and have their moment of fame.

Bass monkey totally agree..

I disagree, if you do it correctly you don't feel a thing and are dead before your brain can even register the sound of the shot! sure its a bit messy but it is a very effective way to get it done. What sucks is that he did not do it in his own home or some place more secluded.

Normally when Tapatalk cuts off the first letter of a post I'm angry. This time I wasn't

Has anyone verified the validity of this story?
-
^^^Not that I know of. I thought this was actually in the paper on 4/9 or 4/10 too, so best guess is the SA probably screwed up on the date and posted something old.

The one flaw in this is why would an anti-gun advocate own a firearm.

Ask Dianne Feinstein

Ask Dianne Feinstein
Does she? I have no idea, but seems it seems disingenuous to own a firearm and tell others they can't do the same.

suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem. I think its stupid... my two cents.

some times it is a permanent solution to a on going and never ending problem. You my friend have never had someone you loved have a terminal illness which was so painful that no human medical help other then to put them into medically induced coma (most of which times medical professionals will not do) will relieve. Instead, most times you are forced to watch them suffer, some times for months and even years in agony as they slowly turn into a shell of their former selves while losing all human dignity along the way. After they finally they die; when in the final days they are still racked with pain beyond what words can explain to your simple little mind, when you see them struggling to breath their very last breath and when they finally pass; you can then tell me that "suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem!"

Terminating life to end long term pain & suffering is called euthanasia...a merciful act to allow an honorable/dignified death and is NOT the same as suicide. While the end result is the same, we should never confuse the two.

It really doesn't matter what you think, nor does it matter whether you or I say if it's right or wrong...it's really not our place. Each persons life is their own, to live (or not) as they choose. The what's or why's, temporary or otherwise, is nobodys business but their own.

What I don't get is how damn ignorant and insensitive comments have become around here...Not everything has to be politicized, twisted into a joke, or turn into a dick measuring contest. How hard is it to understand that this is a public forum and that the deceased individuals friends/family might happen by?
What happened is tragic and sad. We should just leave it at that.

A: you can't euthanasia people in the USA.
B: euthanasia and sucide go hand in hand (only time it isn't is when the person being euthanized is not concious to make that decision).

It's euthanize (if you choose to use it that way), but you completely missed the point. Regardless, just for clarification and information...
A: Oregon and Washington have enacted death with dignity laws and there are many hospices that assist the terminally ill with end of life choices.
B: They do not go "hand in hand" and it's not a matter of arguing semantics, there are separate and very different definitions/classifications. But basically, euthanasia is an act of mercy and suicide an act of desperation. Not really sure what you're getting at with a person who is "not conscious"...Terminating the life of someone that's unconscious is murder. Perhaps you meant people in a vegetative state? Well, "pulling the plug" on a patient diagnosed as brain dead or withholding treatment on those with DNR's is neither suicide nor euthanasia. It's a passive act to allow natural death.
I imagine you might want to come back with how people with a signed DNR are committing suicide. If thats the case, read up on death with dignity, right to die, Terri Schiavo, Nancy Cruzan, and Karen Quinlan, then start a thread in "Off Topic".
