This crap makes blood shoot out of my eyes.
It's like California and Nevada: California is effectively bankrupt, yet they just keep heading down the same path, over and over and over....Boxer and Brown?! COME ON! And Nevada, ohhhh, Nevada, how the HELL did Harry Reid get reelected AGAIN?! Sigh....
Oh am I tempted to follow in Sacramento's footsteps and drop my "self defense" Concealed Carry application. We need to start taking action NOW to prevent the anti's from taking hold and striping us of ALL of our rights. :( HiCarry, I know we're trying wait until we get word back from the SAF, but this isn't good...something needs to happen ASAP.

I've just seen the election results and it's just getting worse for Hawaii. I'm glad I moved here in the mainland. Pls. don't get me wrong that I have given up on hawaii, though one of the reasons are the draconian gun laws there. I already knew then the majority that will win are the same old traditional politicians. Look at the bright side though at least the right has a majority in the house I hope that they'll effect a change, and not all rhetoric. Ah, democracy - the god that failed, a mob rule by majority.

The NRA orginally supported Reid. Didn't he support some pro-gun legislation? (Thune amendment?)

I wasn't surprised by any of the results - this place is knee-jerk democrat and I think the only reason we got Lingle in the beginning was due to Cayetano pissing the wrong people off. Isn't that why Mike Gabbard switched from R to D a while back? However, the results for the state ammendment where people voted to let the gov. keep budget surpluses was a bit of a shock. That one just reinforces in my mind that some people WANT to be told how to live their lives and how to spend their money - since they obviously think the government knows the best way to spend their money.
So we have a former hippie vietnam war protestor activist (didn't he also protest nuclear weapons at Pearl Harbor?) as governor and a probably corrupt lawyer as our rep to Congress. Looks like the rest of the mainland (except for CA and NV) will have to drive true change again.
Edit: I just found this belatedly: http://www.hawaiireporter.com/if-neil-abercrombie-is-hawaiis-next-governor (http://www.hawaiireporter.com/if-neil-abercrombie-is-hawaiis-next-governor)
Looks like Sam was right - and this election for governor mirrors the Presidential election two years ago. Leftist activist wins because the Republican candidate didn't seem to want it. If the "Stupid Party" doesn't buckle down and get things done, look for a second term for Obama.

No, they were considering it because as the Senate Majority Leader he reportedly blocked quite a bit of anti-gun legislation from making it to the floor. Furthermore, his record is so-so when it comes to voting on Gun Control issues which earned him a B-rating from the NRA (1). However, his "push to confirm Supreme Court Justices Sonia Sotomayor and Elena Kagan" (2) led to the NRA officially stating that they would not be endorcing Reid.

Reid was the best candidate for the job in that state. We should be glad he got it the alternatives if the senate kept majority were horrible for us.
