anyone know if WGS is closed?
-
They are supposed to be open the same hours as the range.
-
Joe, is away on the mainland for some business and to see family.
He is the one that runs it during the week. He should be back sometime in May.
They are only opened on the weekends for now, both Saturday and Sunday.
-
thanks for update!!!
-
Called them today. There was a voice message from Joe saying they will be closed on weekdays from August 28 to December 5, 2013 but open on the weekends. Plan accordingly.
-
I heard that they may be moving to Waimanalo due to (significant) increase in their rent at their current location.

Wouldn't be so bad if they opened all the time....maybe they can cover rent?
Not my business, but my 2 cents
-
or move to Aina Haina or Niu Valley... hell they can move into Kalama Valley Shopping center since there is a ton of parking...
-
.
-
kalama valley has tons of empty spots
i bet rent would be cheap

In all fairness they are usually open Wed. - Fri. from 11am - 6pm, and on Sat & Sun. all day.

I think they have tried Kalama Valley several times, but no go due to management.
Aina Hina & Nui Valley would be hard due to management as well.

KFC building now vacant
Niu or aina haina
Yup!
-
Kalama Valley retail space has been empty for years... only the Thai rest and repair shop have lasted...
whoever owns that place must be sucking with no tenants.
I think Sofos Realty manages all the retail spaces in HK from Koko Marina to Kalama.
-
Sofos sucks.

Joe was telling me that they have been asking on and off for the past 15 years or so. The property manger has been giving them all kinds of negative responses.
I think they where recently told that the property is up for sale, but they could do a short term lease.
They would have to vacate if the perspective buyers did not approve of a gun shop.
The bad part is that it is all unimproved spaces.
Who would even consider that?
-
Newer storage facilities include A/C, power, lights, security cameras, alarms and cheaper-than-retail-space rents!
 :D

So whats the deal with HK shopping center? Are they getting kicked out?
Rents going up 38%.
I would move as well.

Buying ammo via "Drive Thru?!"
Brilliant Idea!
-
Joe told me that Waimanalo it is.
-
Typical... Boost the rent before selling to show the new buyers that the property is a gold mine.....
Been there done that. Bust the property owners in their scam.
Total BS because we all know the economy sucks and retail is going nowhere.

Rather than start a new thread I feel this is appropriate here. I was down HK side today FEB 11, 15 (Wednesday) so I figured that I'd go to WGS an this is what was on the door(http://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/15/02/11/5d5a7eacb37d9f1f81029764f8bf24da.jpg)

WGS moved to Sand Island Road...Corner of Sand Island Road and Auiki Street in Kalihi.

Update: every location Joe was hoping to get (Waimanalo, Kalama Vallet, etc) still has absolutely no tenants.
In fact, more spots opened up.
Glad to know that anti-gun sentiment is more important than making money....especially when people cry and complain about how they don't have money, so everyone else should give up some of theirs.

What's got me is that Joe moves out of HK and then there is an recent announcement of the soon to be OGC #2 wanting to hire for its future HK location, WTF?
I was in the area 12/17/15 and stopped by the new WGS, nice place Joe and Henry were there.

Larry's Auto parts used to be across from HK City Mill and closed due to high lease but is now opened in the building with the Satellite City hall in HK. To me the lease in the Town Center would be comparable a few hundred yards away, but who knows, maybe that management only wants a certain business image , not auto parts and gun stores.
I hope OGC will open someplace in HK and have lots of parking.

I read that OGC is looking to open a 2nd store in HK, but they won't sell guns there, only accessories and stuff. Maybe a restriction of the landlord/lease

Since Carter mentioned having the new store hours coincide with KHSC hours of operation, it looks like he picked HK to support/benefit from the traffic to and from the range.
If he has room, I think that would make a perfect location to give the Handgun Safety Training classes, making the hands-on portion at KHSC a heck of alot more convenient.
-
I think ammo sales and reloading supplies will be his strongest sales point. Carter already deals in bulk ammo sales through his first store. Being close to the range and being able to pick up a couple of boxes of ammo on the way in seems to be a common thing I hear a lot at the range. It turned to complaints during the ammo/powder/primer shortage a few years ago. Especially with .22 ammo. It seems to turn us all into hoarders.
I welcome another LGS in the HK area. But with the advent of the discounting now going on between some of the other LGS's I will be shopping them all for the best deals like I used to do prior to all the shortages and craziness.
-
Guys I haven't seen Carter at OGC in prolly over a year maybe closer to two.

Oh geez I forgot about that. I heard something about him being off island for a while. I don't remember how long though. Getting forgetful in my old age.
