I bet the parents didn't respect firearms either. I think people should keep a coded safe if you have young minors around the house to help prevent this. (just my opinion) You shouldn't be required to by a law, but as a good practice imo.
Of course, if we had more education programs for our children and young adults telling teaching them about firearms -- I believe this would happen less frequently.

There are so many of these types of stories it's not funny. So many people are killed by "unloaded" guns.

It's posted on the Sig Forum. The story is Stupid aand never should have happened. Both knew better.
The young man(not a kid) knew better. Both guys were taught at an early age proper firearms handling.
Both knew better, yet Stupid things were done. Safety RULES were violated and we see what happened.
Always treat Every Firearm as being Loaded.

Kinda off-topic, but you know what bothers me with the article? That they went to Facebook and Myspace to get more information to publish. I realize that it's all in the public domain and that anyone could've pulled that stuff up, but to not only publish the girlfriend's name, but also her Facebook status/comment, that seems so wrong to me.
