Could it be true? Is the panic hoarding finally dying down?
Found Federal Champion 22LR 500 count box of ammo at Young Guns for $35.90/box. Limit 1 box/person/day.
They had a bunch there in case you need some.

now that you let the cat out of the bag, everybody will tell their mom, dad, sister, brother, aunt, uncle, to pick up a brick for them
thats what i do. good thing i work accross the street. :shaka:
and i'm still hoarding um!
-
Was afraid of that!
-
heh? thats decent for the time being, but still 2x the price of 6-12 months ago.
-
They have a lot of 9mm ammo (a bit pricey), .40, .45, etc. too
-
Is that cheap? I don't remember what I used to buy those for
-
It's not cheap. But it's available if you need it.
The 9mm ammo is also not cheap. 1.5-2x what it used to cost.

Yep, 9mm ammo is over priced..

If folks want prices to come back down, folks should stop hoarding and buying up overpriced stuff. Vendors are more than willing to keep prices where they're at if folks still keep buying them.
When people stop buying stuff at those prices, vendors will get the hint and start to lower the prices to a more reasonable level.
Hope this is a trend where the inventory gets plentiful again and stuff starts get back to normal prices.

That's a nice theory and all, but the retailers also have to pay their distributors. As long as the supply and demand problems continue (including hoarding & scalping), the retailers will be unable to drop their prices below their cost.
Imagine having a store with no inventory. How do you pay your bills, make payroll, etc.? Then imagine a store with about half the normal inventory you normally stock because of a backlog with manufacturers. In order to stay in business, you have to now make 100% of the same revenue selling 50% of the product. Mathematically, the only way to solve that is to charge more for the available inventory. How much more is determined by how much the buyers are willing and able to pay.
Put yourself in the business owners' shoes. They have people who depend on that business staying afloat. Creating 50% less revenue just to keep a few consumers from grumbling about high prices is not a sustainable business model!

Right...I imagine it is going to take a while before the prices go down (if they ever do).
-
$24.95 is normal....even $29.95
-
I'm not mad about prices...it is the nature of the beast. I do think it is funny that with all of this "gun ban" scare, there are some companies that are keeping the prices at the same level. I read somewhere that Glock has a 1.2 million backlog, but their prices remain the same. Can't say the same thing for all of the AR type manufactures.
Okay sorry... :stopjack:

Well that boat has sailed... young guns broke apart the 500 fed .22 bricks for $35... I was the last one to get bricks, now only sell by the small packs. Brighter side they still have the 22 fed target 300 box for 27.95

Details:
(1) The Federal "Target Grade" AutoMatch .22LR brick is $27.99 for 325 rounds. Limit one per person/per day.
(2) The Federal Champion .22LR HV is now $3.99 for 50 rounds. Limit four boxes per person/per day.
Since there are 10 boxes per brick, that increases the "per-brick cost" from $35.90 to $39.99.

sorry but that's much more then 2X the price! I say we should remember all of these dealers which are marking up the prices 2+X the amount since prices should go back down due to the awb and high cap mag ban being dead. gougers get thumbs down! I'd rather buy from someone like Kaneohe gun shop which keeps the prices sane and normal when people are in need.

I haven't seen ANY .22lr available for over 5 months. Five freakin months!
-
you gotta be quick
22 comes in once in a while here and there at various LGS
but some only last for a few hours
couple weeks ago called LGS, "just got some in"
went in after lunch all gone, "sold out in 2 hours"
i pick up a couple bricks here and there now and then when i can find.
now i built up a nice little surplus of 22 LR.
in these times of shortage, thats what i gotta do.
shot about 350 rounds last sunday, didn't feel guilty at all.
