I'm going to vegas later on this month, I've read in RECOIL magazine that all you can bring ammunition back with your if you leave it in your check in luggage and the ammo doesn't exceed 10 or 11lbs. Also while it doesn't need to be in a safe can (like an ammo box) you can't store it loose. Leaving it in the carton you bought it in should be fine.
Has anyone done this and can confirm?
While I should be able to trust a magazine (I hope I can), it may not apply to us Hawaii guys so I thought I'd ask here.

Good luck finding ammo in vegas. It is twice the price from here!
My friends in vegas are crying for me to ship ammo to them....
Had a customer come in yesterday to buy ammo to take back to vegas!

^^^Even during the craze you could find certain types of ammo in Vegas. It wouldn't be 223/9mm, but other ammo was aplenty. Don't know what the supply up in Vegas is like now.

wow, didn't know that alaska allowed that much. too bad my in-laws always fly delta. i've also flown united with ammo, but i've yet to have anyone check on the actual weight of my ammo.
if you know someone in vegas, ask if you can buy on-line and ship it to their house. that way for sure you'll have something to bring home. one year we found a sweet deal on .45 and it sat at my in-laws for a couple months.

Numbertwo,
What airline will you be flying?
Could you find out and inform us what their maximum permitted weight is?
Thanks :shaka:
