Damn liberals are getting paranoid about everything!

Then again maybe its the same dummy who got busted for selling a SA Waikele....left it there earlier before he went to Waikele?

It's getting ridiculous. Folks are getting too excited about other people's garbage.

Yeah it is pretty silly. Guess with everything going on in the mainland, people are starting to jump at their own shadows.

My son believes it's SSD wanting to 'test out' the water cannon on their million dollar bomb disposal robot. And after thinking about it? That makes sense. They need to get some use out of it to justify having it in a place where nothing ever happens.

I'm sure if any one of us were there, we'd walk up and check out the box saying "finders keepers"!

This is exactly what happens when you are dealing with uneducated people who have no clue about the ammo shortage. If one of us stumbled upon the box or was there when this incident happened, we would have been all over that box of ammo.  Problem solved.

As time has proven again and again, a lack of education is dangerous!  Well said.

This may inspire some people to leave things on purpose, maybe a "...box of rocks". Soon someone will probably leave a pressure cooker connected to a AAA size battery sitting in a parking lot and the bomb squad will be all over that too.
When are people going to realize that they have a better chance in this country of winning a jackpot lottery than encountering an IED? It's friggen pathetic.

Of course I'd pick it up and check it out hoping it was full.
Don't know if I'd stick around after finding it was empty though.

An empty ammunition box, I'd be thinking mass shooter or disgruntled ex-boyfriend.

I'm thinkin', the box fell out of a messy vehicle or blew out of the back of a truck, etc... the same way any empty box ends up in a parking lot, 5hit happens. Because it was an ammo box, ignorance got the best of people who should have damn well known better.

Also notice this at the bottom of the article "This morning, the Department of Education locked down the 2,000-student Kahuku school complex after a suspicious device was found at nearby Kahuku District Park. HPD reopened the area after several hours."

So there was another unwarrented scare before the empty ammo box incident. This is a direct result of our fascist propaganda based media and those  :worship: <idiots that worship it.

Something was actually found at the Kahuku incident, if that is the other incident you are referring to.

Thank God it wasn't a condom wrapper because then the SSD boys would be searching for sex offendors.

A flamable fluid in a bottle wrapped in a paper bag and taped is far FAAR from being news worthy and even further from finding something like an IED. Sounds like they found a bottle of Okolehao or fermented Oni from a box that someone left behind from a party the night before. "Flamable liquid" isn't an explosive and isn't gasoline or kerosene but rather some sort of booze most likely, considering where and when they found it. Again... we're seeing the result of over active imaginations inspired by a fascist propeganda news media. And once again, trumping up the finding verbally to sound as if it was beyond what it actually was, propaganda BS.

LOL! And if that were the rumor mills agenda you could bet that would be the thing on the news. We're all better off tuning that crap out beyond using it to get a pulse on the how far imbedded and dagerous the establishment has become.

In actuality the media has lost touch with what mentally sound people are interested in news wise. Journalism has become a cesspool of irresponsible non factual trash, cover-ups though news black outs and slanted fake-liberal viewpoints. From the pure rubbish fallacy of human produced global warming via CO2 and now down to trash being a possible IED.  Here we’re now seeing them manufacture factual trash into a news story to further promote fear amongst the citizenry (Propaganda News). This is about the lowest form of journalism possible. In the old days, events such as these would have been steered far clear of by real journalists, especially after recent national events. If not for the simple responsibility to keep civil mindsets within the community but to avoid being considered a joke journalism wise. But do they exercise reporting responsible stories for the community’s best interest? No, they manufacture fear from real trash, slanting it towards recent terrorist activity and call it news. It’s beyond damn pathetic. It’s best to err on the safe side?  (Now they bend the word “safe”) NO! It’s best to err on the responsible side! A damn simple park in Hawaii that is predominately vacant does not have a friggen IED planted on it! Terrorist may be many things but they are not developmentally disabled and will strike targets that will create serious collateral damage and create national headlines immediately. Hawaii is not “high profile” target wise. Hawaii would be near the bottom of list for potential targets by terrorists.  Terrorist are not a highly organized massive military force looking for strategic logistic locations during the 1800’s to 1950’s… Hawaii is not a terrorist’s target and we are not having problems with Japan, Germany or any other such type nation. It’s an extremist radical religion thing and a crazy people thing. I know there are lots of wayward liberal idiots out there but pretending a bag on the ground is a potential IED in the middle of a lazy sleepy park is simply beyond stupid and reporting it beyond a stupid attack report by a mentally disturbed person is likewise just as irresponsible.

Caught the KGMB news and they said HPD said 2013 is not an unusual year for the number of suspicious package scares and the number this year is similar to previous years. So then the question becomes why are they making big news out of all of these routine incidents. Of course there was the recent bombings in Boston but does the media have an agenda as others have suggested and to what extent? There is no doubt Hawaii media is heavily biased to the left for sure. In a related story a TSA agent found a dagger disguised in a hairbrush at the Maui screening. Probably something else that wouldn't normally make the news as they get these types of incidents fairly routine. ::)
