I wish he'd used the term "republic" instead of "democracy."

That confusion has resulted in the pickle we're in.  The founders feared a democracy, that's why they set us up as a republic.

And how come the Bloomberg media outlet cut off his speech in the middle and I can't seem to get the other links cited above working?

Am I doing something wrong, or is this just another propaganda maneuver by the Bloomberg complex?

Terry, not sure why the links are not working for you. Just checked and they work for me. Jeanine Pirro's speech is the one I really likedI

Fully agree with your comment about the use of the term "republic" instead of "democracy".

Ah yes, Texas, that freedom loving State with the 4th highest prison population in the country and ~by far~ the most executions. I'm sure they're doing everything they can to address the root causes of that, right Rick?

Other than that, I do believe that was my favorite speech from Perry. He's a good governor.

High prison population AND most executions?

Sounds to me like they need to step up executions so they can get that other number way down!!

You do realize the irony that we talk about criminals getting shot with some glee here....

...but we are all just a pen stroke away from becoming criminals ourselves?

Too bad our Senator will not face any backlash.

I wish that folks would use the correct "republic" term more since that is what our founding fathers created! Great point Terry!

After listening to Gov Rick Perry's speech, I thought...

It's a SHAME that Hawaii doesn't do it's part to protect our 2nd amendment rights. Instead we continually send the most anti-gun legislators to Washington so that everyone's 2a rights can be in jeopardy.

We need to do our part and vote our anti-2a legislators out.

Yeah, but it just doesn't roll off the tongue the way "democracy" does.

"We are the champions of Freedom and Republics around the World!"

See? Just doesn't have the same flair. Hard to sell people on being the champions of Republics. And as long as we think of it as a democracy then we feel like we have some direct influence. What could be more American than feeling like you matter when you don't? Win all the way around!
