Forms are now available to download on HPD firearms section of their web page!
Thanks to "FATMANWA" for noticing this!
Just noticed this also! If you look under the "application" section, you now have the option to have your processed permit mailed to you provided you provide a self address stamped envelope as well as some other provisions. CHECK IT OUT!

One small step for man, one giant leap for HPD.

Good one (fstbckgt)! :D

So if I'm renewing my permit do I have to go in? Can I just fill out the online forms and mail it in with a self addressed, prepaid envelope?

Great news! Two things I mentioned in a handful of the comments and suggestions forms I filled out. Online application would be nice, but a good start.

From what I'm reading, the forms are only to get your process started. Nothing about mailing them in, so still have to walk in, especially for handgun permit to acquire because they need to verify either the basic handgun safety course or hunters education course certification. They don't keep the info on file because I asked last time I forgot to bring mine.

This is great! Let's see if it will speed things up down there. Hopefully the registration >:( at multiple stations works out.

Breakthrough!
Congratulations, folks!

Hopefully someone will chime in the "proper" procedures for the mailing back process!

A duplicate thread has been started!

No. From the HPD website:
To obtain a Permit to Acquire, or to Register a Firearm, you must appear in person at the Honolulu Police Department's Firearms Section.

Peeps reporting they not taking online forms! :wtf:

Who is reporting this? What reasons were they given by HPD for not taking the forms listed on their own website?

Its being reported in "hows the line at HPD" thread! My thinking is the same as another member, it probably has to do with the carbonless copy form. Being that its a multi copy form and the online form is a single part form, it would require HPD to manually run back and forth to the copying machine and make their own copies thus IMO creating a LONGER wait! Maybe its a sign that HPD is "UPDATING" their computer system to handle the registrations more efficiently! We can only HOPE something better is coming!

Perhaps I am missing something, but wouldn't bringing two printed copies solve the issue?

Probably need 3 copies.....but each copy would need to be signed individually because we now are not using the carbonless forms that HPD provide...thats if we print our own. The other forms that we fill out would be ok to fill out at home, its the "Multi" part form that is the issue!

What an asinine issue they've created for themselves. Not taking their own forms is just dumb. I got all the respect in the world for the HPD and the job they do, but come on guys. Not taking the forms from your own website? Gimme a break.

Yeah! Agreed! I think HPD......jumped the gun (no pun intended) because it's still in it's infant stage. I wouldn't be surprised if the online forms link is taken down for now

Peeps reporting they not taking online forms! :wtf:
I called the HPD firearms branch this morning and spoke to one of the clerks and one of the Sgts. They will take the forms with some caveats. First, if you have Kaiser or Straub, the medical form is different and not yet online. The clerk said you could print out the "yes/no/initial" form but could not initial your responses. I spoke to the HPD Sgt. who said they would take the forms initialed.
Hope that helps.
Maybe the multiple threads on this topic can be merged??
