Title: covert (discreet) rifle bags
Post by: dirsh on May 27, 2013, 01:27:32 PM
What's your favorite covert rifle bag(s)?

I'm looking for something else to use other than my 5.11 dual rifle bag, which is huge and isn't very covert, and my UTG bag which totally looks like it has a rifle in it. It would have to be fairly long because I'd prefer not to break the rifle down.

I was gonna pick up one of these:

just came accross this backpack that has enough from 2 ARs

non firearms related cases/bags I've thought of using:
guitar, tennis, golf, sports duffle

I had a UTG Deluxe Covert for my AR, great bag for the price. The only downside ifs the inner material of the main pocket attracts dirt and debris.

Seen this back a while ago. Pretty slick but I wouldn't want to do this to my AR but I would imagine has a practical application just depending.

Not sure of the legalities of using name brand tool cases, but thought wearing some old jeans, t-shirt and some boots, one wouldn't think an ar15 would be stuffed in the Dewalt tool case.

To think we ended up throwing away a dozen or so Dewalt, Bosch and Milwaukee sawzall/saber saw cases at work a few years ago.  If I was into firearms then and knew about this, I would have just gone tree hugger mode and taken those home to make those AR cases.

Couple of the Bros living in condos use golf bags to haul firearms & to range and on hunting trips. Real stealthy....
Buddy uses a SKB hard golf case to travel and picked it up real cheap. Holds gun or bow in soft case and other gear. Hope that helps.
Aloha!

I have the 5.11 M4 Covert Backpack.  Not totally deceptive like an instrument case, but it doesn't scream "GUN!" at a glance, either!  Resembles a racket case or sports equipment bag.

Folding chair bag.  No questions about how long I've been playing or my handicap.
Likely to be ignored if my car is broken into.

I think you'd be surprised at how few people can recognize a gun case.

when i bought my pistol, the timing of it meant i had to take it to work with me because the lines at HPD took way too damn long.  my friend was with me and he thought i was crazy and i told that no one would know what it was.  trust me, if they knew what it was, they would have made a deal out of it.

set down the case (hell, it still had the sticker on the side with the model of the pistol on it) on an open table next to my backpack.  no one noticed it, asked questions, or knew what it was.  it sat there for 5 hours.
