Title: Question about range reports

Hello,
I'm moving to Hawaii in a few weeks.  I've been reading this forum and other boards to get information about guns and shooting activities in Hawaii.  Lately, I've noticed weekly range report threads such as this one here entitled "Range Report Sunday 5/26" http://2ahawaii.com/index.php?topic=8830.0. Which are these threads about the Koko Head range?  It seems to shoot in the morning that you have to arrive before 7AM.  What time are you allowed to start shooting?  If you arrive early, can you set up before the official opening time? 

I look forward to life on the islands and thanks in advance for your answers.

Those are referring to Koko head. You can start shooting when the range opens. Times are posted on the websitehttp://www.khsc.info/index.php/aboout/hours (http://www.khsc.info/index.php/aboout/hours). Yes, you can go early to reserve your spot and set up beforehand.

Koko Head is the main range on the island (http://www.khsc.info/ (http://www.khsc.info/)).  It was very busy with long waiting lines for the past few months due to cutting of hours and firearm buying craze.  However with extended hours now and probably people running out of ammo to shoot, range availability is better now. Pistol side is usually okay.  Rifle side can get crowded sometimes in the mornings.  Later in the day it tends to ease up.

Other ranges available are Puuloa with a 600 yard rifle range if you enjoy highpower shooting www.puuloa.com (http://www.puuloa.com).

Schofield Rod and Gun is available to military, great for handgun, rifle, or shotgun combat type of shooting since they have less restrictions, but are usually limited to 75 yards unless they ocassionaly get one of the other ranges.  Also skeet and trap.  www.schofield-gunclub.org (http://www.schofield-gunclub.org)

One more thing about Koko Head.  It's fine to get there early to set up at a bench.  However, keep all of your guns cased up until the RO gives you the word/command that it's ok to handle firearms.  Having shot at a few ranges on the mainland, the rules and procedures at Koko Head are quite rigid.  The rules are the rules, but I can see how people who are used to ranges with more freedom could assume the same is allowed here.
