Recently I regained interest in firearms after about 10 years so I been visiting gun shops on my spare time. So this weekend I drive up to OGC and they was closed , so with alot of hesitation(due to past owner) I figure I check out Honolulu Firearms and Range since they have new people running the place. As I walk in I see it changed a little and I was greeted with a "hello lmk if I can help you with anything, don't be afraid to ask" and you knew the gentlemen meant what he said. Being out of the loop for a while he made me feel very confortable. So I check out the guys shooting in the range thinking to myself( they probably put there best customer service guy in the front). So I proceed to walk towards the back where the firearms were and to my surprise I was greeted again with a positive feeling. So I browse looking at some guns and was asked if I wanted to see anything , so I asked to look at a gun.
So i was handed the gun I asked to see and while I was looking the worker asked what type of gun I was looking for and why, so being honest I told him I'm new to this rifle AR scene and I'm not really sure. So he broke it down to me range, home defense , tactical etc and he kinda got a feel for what I wanted. So he brings me 2 rifles and actually breaks it down in front of me and showing me the difference of pjston and non piston . Mind you there's alot of customers in there but it was good because I wasn't the only rookie there, he pretty much got the attention of a few people as they all stood around to listen. Mind you I didn't even mention of buying anything but the customer service from the whole stuff was unbelievable(wish I could remember the gentlemens name) but I think it was Louie he was like 6'3" gotta be like almost 350 pounds. Well anyways I told him I appreciate it and he said "no problem come by anytime" . So since I was in the area on Sunday and there one of the only gun store open I went there again just becausr. And guess what , there was a totally different staff and I received the same exact customer service I had the day before. Just like to thank the staff there, even though I purchaser just cleaners , gun lubes and other stuff they really made me feel comfortable getting back into the hobby of guns. God bless them

Yes I've had great customer service from Honolulu Firearms also since the new management has taken over.
Prices are still a bit on the higher side but customer service is top notch! I'd rate it up there among the local gun shops.

That's good to hear, glad you had a nice experience!!
A buddy of mine works there on Sundays, he's a great guy! I also noticed the better atmosphere/vibe since the new management took over!

I heard from a friend that they do not sell firearms on Sundays.
Anyone can confirm this?

That must be some kind of record for using the word "so" in a story.

We're all very fortunate to have so many good local gun shops (LGS) on Oahu. Each shop has its own personality and when I was new in the firearms community, I made it a point to visit as many of the LGS when I was in the area, and spread my money a bit to support them all. Visiting them all gives me a better idea where to get good stuff, good deals, and/or good friends.
I think most of the shops try to do their best these days. Some shop personalities suit some better than others.
When a LGS treats me good, I go out of my way to recommend them to others or buy something from them, even if its just to buy small kind stuff such as ammo, cleaning supplies, ear plugs, etc.

On that note though, Brian and Dex at X-ring are great too. The shop's a little far for me but they've always provided great service.

and the firearm area was locked both times.
maybe it just depends.

Louie's cool. Every time I'm there to shoot at the range, he's always been great about customer service.

Yes if Louie is that big fella that's the guy, braddah get plenty of aloha.
