I'm glad that I stocked up years ago.

I agree. Get 'em while you can and while they are still relatively inexpensive. Still my favorite rifle to shoot (and will probably always be because of the cheap ammo).
If you haven't obtained your C&R, now would be a good time if you still want to get a deal on a Mosin. Just went to a LGS and saw a Type 53 on sale for $279, which kind of blew my mind being that I can get one with a C&R for $99 w/ shipping (~$168 total).
Seems that way until you consider that most don't have or won't obtain their C&R. Also, the price is higher for some of the local ones because of the make (Fin?). $65 for shipping, $30-40 for FFL. That puts the cost of the local MN at $174 - 184 as compared to its online counterpart. If you add the $30 cost of the C&R FFL for just this one rifle, its even cheaper. There's also the fact that you can personally inspect the rifle before you buy.
I think for the most part, the LGS price their stuff right when you consider the actual cost of buying stuff online. They may tack on slightly more to catch those guys who just gotta have it now. Also, when you consider how much dicking around you do trying to find stuff online with shipping prices that work, you end up wasting a lot of time which translates to money.

I haven't been to any LGS in a few weeks. Any suggestions on where to pick up a Mosin? OGC?
