Title: Are your vehicles prepared?
Post by: BLKDRGN on June 26, 2013, 12:40:16 PM
Everyone seems to prepare their house but what if you need to evacuate or travel for supplies? Kinda like the walking dead. What do you think we need to do to our vehicles to prepare for a disaster? What type of vehicles would be best? Would a nissan leaf be great if electricity ran out and you could charge it up with solar panels? 4x4 trucks better so you can go off road, haul more things, but gas guzzler? what about motorcycles? Boats or some type of water craft?

Do you think you could be overrun by people trying to take it over when you are on an ATV or motorcycle? What type of things will you be able to carry on a bicycle and wouldn't you be using up extra energy that you need to conserve?

good point about the bicycle
i was gonna put horse, but that would take up a lot of food/water

you need to be good enough at riding the ATV/motorcycle to avoid the zombies

For human powered vehicles, nothing beats a good bicycle.

Prepared for what? Going nowhere fast?

Picture typical Honolulu traffic except with none of the cars moving.... okay well maybe that doesn't require a lot of imagination ;)

Seriously though.. way I see it, if there are too many people you wouldn't really wanna go anywhere, and if most are gone, then you can relocate to where you need to be, which would kill a lot of your transport requirements. I mean where exactly are you going to be traveling? Think about most of your travel now. Work.. activities.. etc.. when that's all gone you really don't need to go too far. You'd want food and water nearby - you're not commuting anywhere or going to the movies. In a survival situation you're not going to be driving up to north shore to admire the swells, etc..

I mean, in some hypothetical, unlikely scenario where 99% of the people on this island disappear and everything goes to crap, I'll certainly be finding myself better digs.
