Ok, here we go. Put all seriousness a side.... Favorite movies with guns in it. Let the games begin!!!
-
HEAT, BLACK HAWK DOWN, COMMANDO!!!!hahahaha
-
Any old war movie, I like, or westerns, spaghetti westerns with Eastwood.
Newer movies maybe Unforgiven, I'd like to see the remake of the John Wayne flick, can't think of the name of the movie right now, but it just came out.
Oh, speaking of Eastwood, Dirty Harry, classic big a$$ gun flick. :)
-
Enemy at the Gates, Red Dawn!!! Haha
-
John Wayne, and Clint Eastwood... The ultimate pioneers!
-
The outlaw Josey Wales, when He corners the guy Red Leg, and goes through about 18 empty chambers, pulling revolver after revolver, Frakkin EPIC!!!!
-
Saving Private Ryan, Expendables, terminator,
-
Lets not forget "The Matrix"
-
Ahh yes, Saving Private Ryan, a modern classic!
Love The Matrix too. Imagine any gun you want uploaded for you! >:D
Not too many guns, but the Borne series of movies is pretty action packed.
-
DIEHARD!
-
Hard Boiled, starring chow yun fat. +1 on Heat. Ronin.
-
+1 on Heat as well. I hate Hollywood's ADD-inducing cheap tactics (loud sound in scary movies for a cheap scare, music that mysteriously starts playing as the action heats up, etc). I remember watching that movie and hearing the clarity of the guns firing and realizing how much more realistic and raw it is without retarded action music. Love it for that fact alone!

The shootout scene on Heat is great. Love it.
-
PREDATOR... The "clearing the forest scene" after Jesse "The Body" Ventura dies..... O0
-
Expendables, sporting some nice Noveskes...
-
Tears Of The Sun.... +1 on the Expendables! Rocken the AA12!
-
Oh I LOVED Tears of the sun. I didn't know one other person who even liked the movie though.
I was going to contribute, but I can't think of any not mentioned already.
-
I know no one will mention this so I'll go out and say It....RAMBO! there will never be a movie like Rambo and Commando where one guy kills hundreds and lives! When they make movies like this, it's a Spoof type comedy now...hahaha!
-
I used to like Rambo until I found out what Sly stands for when it comes to 2A rights. Collateral with Tom Cruise and Jamie fox and Miami Vice, the remake actually any movie that's directed by Michael Mann which involves guns. He directed Heat too, I just like the way he makes you feel like you're there, uses live fire 'cause he wants to be real as possible. None of those cg's and unlimited ammos. And most of all, there's always a 1911 in every movie.
-
Book of Eli
True Lies
To Hell and Back
-
Boondock Saints!
-
Michael Mann films: Heat, Collateral, Miami Vice
Equilibrium. Martial arts w/ guns. Not realistic but fun to watch
-
Heat, Predator, The Town
also saw some cool Sigs on Inception recently.
-
Eraser, Shooter, Sniper :D
-
Eraser, Shooter, Sniper :D
oh yea! Forgot about shooter!!
-
THE LOSERS!! :D
-
The Expendables gotta top the list for me. This movie pays homage to so many things that are gun/firearms and firearm culture as well as other things like scenes from other classic movies, pro wrestling, MMA etc.
Take the movie's title for example. This sorta goes back to Rambo II when he and the rebel chick was on the boat and rambo tells her how he's "expendable" and she asks what that means.
Another homage is the scene in the beginning where they confront the somali pirates. Stallone and Statham are arguing who they're gonna go for. Statham says "you're not that fast anymore" and stallone replies with "the only thing that's faster is light". That little line sorta pays homage to Bob Munden when he's being interviewed and the interviewer asks him what comes close to the speed of his gun draw, and Munden replies "the speed of light". Stallone even uses a single action revolver. You can look that interview up on youtube. Just search Bob Munden.
Another is during the big gun fight scene at the end where stallone is shooting a bunch of guys with his 1911 and reloading really fast. It's sorta how speed reloads are done in competition shooting. Obviously the way stallone was doing it was completely wrong, but still sorta cool.
Not to mention all of their equipment had top notch stuff on it. SBR's with sopmod stocks, EoTechs and even noveske kx3 compesators. Oh and of course the AA12 Shotgun!
Overall the movie was cheesy but i enjoyed it a lot because it brought back so many memories of different things.
-
"Replacement Killers" -Chow Yun Fat
"Hitman" - A little cheesy but I actually liked it! - just saw it last night too LOL
"Magpul Dynamics" - HAHA its a DVD it counts LOL
"Die Hard #1" - "Yippy Kai Yeh Motha @!#%"
To many good choices....gotta admit though, the 92F has its popularity in the 80-90's movies huh? Shoot isn't Equilibrium a Beretta on Steroids?
-
I loved that last shootout in the movie kick a$$.
That little girl was terrific.
The saloon scene at the end of unforgiven is one of my favorites.
The bank robbery scene in the movie heat is my all time favorite.
And the "curve the bullet" garbage in the movie wanted gets my vote as the worst.
-
I just bought RED with Bruce Willis, Morgan Freeman, John Malkovich
I give it a thumbs up on the guns.
-
Universal Soldier! Going off with the STRIKER12 SHOTTY!
-
Sucker Punch!

Michael Mann is a really great film-maker in that aspect. He also invests in his actors that carry firearms so that if their character should know what they're doing, they themselves should know what they're doing. many special features included in Michael Mann's dvds show actors going through tactical firearms training. even if they only have 1 scene. i can't stand watching scenes like in 'Land of the Dead' where a zombie approaches the highly reinforced safe zone with electrified fences. two soldiers on watch notice him and let him walk up to it. the zombie eventually grabs the fence and is immediately stuck to it, shaking like crazy while being fried. when told to take care of it, the female soldier proceeds to hip-fire her ENTIRE M16 magazine at the zombie. by some stroke of luck, one eventually hits it in the head. LMAO stupid crap like that really gets to me.
Other Michael Mann favorites of mine with guns:
Collateral
Miami Vice (remake)
The Kingdom -- the scene with Jamie Foxx dumping an H&K G3 magazine full-auto is amazing with a real sound system
edit: lol i just NOW saw ren's earlier post with collateral and miami vice
-
PREDATORS! 3 point sling on an AA12! YEEEAH!! :o

ALIENS!!!! Ripley!! Straight up Duct Taped Assault rifle Flame Thrower Combo. Good one "Primary Weapons Systems"

Hard to find movies nowadays that glorify the infamous Revolver... Everything is full and semi.. Until now... <<"FASTER">>.. Rockin the speed loader on a Ruger Super Redhawk Alaskan! There were alot of Glocks and HK's but the Revolver took the stage..
-
True Grit (2010): 1851 Navy Colt.
Gran Torino: How to Use a 1911 Effectively without Firing It.
The Wild Bunch : Best use of a Browning 1917 and 1897 Winchester.
Terminator 2: Whats not to like about a futuristic robot using a 100+ year old chopped down lever action shotgun.
Die Hard and Lethal Weapon Series: Makes a standard Beretta in 9mm look Bad@zz.
Gran Torino: How to Use a 1911 Effectively without Firing It.

Bloodwork- Clint Eastwood used the Performance Center S&W 627 revolver. They don't offer these anymore with fluted cylinders, and sans the stupid lawyer lock, but I still want one!
Imagine the blast and the noise of eight .357 full house magnum loads fired out of that 2 5/8" barrel! ;)
What fun! :)

"LORD OF WAR" Interesting true story.... Favorite part was when the AK sounded like a cash register.... a "Full Auto" cash register......
-
Wow, I can't believe I'm going to be the first one to mention this one: WAY OF THE GUN. (Maybe it's a bit obscure because it didn't do all that well in the theaters.)
If you haven't seen this movie, rent it as soon as you can. It's an homage to Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, but probably the most realistic gun movie I've ever seen. (For example, sniper bullets hit first, then you hear a crack! then a distant BOOM.) Written and directed by Christopher McQuarrie (writer of The Usual Suspects).
-
I saw that movie in the theaters, but that was before I got into guns. I'll have to watch it again.
-
"9th Company (9 Pota)"
For the AK74 fans..... All about the Afghan war between Russia and Afghanistan..

I forgot about "The professional", I love that movie.
-
+1 on Stallone and Banderas' "Assassins". Entertaining for sure!
What about Clive Owen's "Shoot Em Up" or "Sin City"?
There's also Daniel Craig's movie "Defiance" which is based on a true story.
-
How about Navy Seals with Charlie Sheen. There was the guy who provided overwatch for them callsign God. I believe that was a 50cal he had... I could be wrong I haven't seen that movie in years.
Thanks man sorry about that I stand corrected by GZire no Emilio... I should have double checked with all knowing Google first.
-
I don't know if anybody posted this, I'm to lazy to look right now. one but it look like its going to be kick ass "Act Of Valor" http://actofvalor.com/ (http://actofvalor.com/)

How about Navy Seals with Charlie Sheen and Emilio Estevez. There was the guy who provided overwatch for them callsign God. I believe that was a 50cal he had... I could be wrong I haven't seen that movie in years.
Emilio was in that film? I remember Dennis Haysbert, Michael Bien, Rick Rossovic(?) too.
-
I like Michael Mann's movies as well--my favorite is Thief with James Caan. Slo-mo reload of a 1911, High Standard bullpup 12 ga., what's not to love? +1 on Clint and the Duke as well. I also like the original Killer Elite with Caan, Bo Hopkins and Burt Young. There's a scene where Burt clobbers two ninjas with an empty 1911--I don't know why but I just love it! There's also a scene where one of the guys is holding what looks like a Ingram smg but it's got the fore-end, barrel and front sight of an Uzi attached upside down--I'm still trying to figure that one out!
My vote for the best gun scene in a movie is from Indiana Jones where Jones shoots the sword wielding thug in the marketplace--all time classic validation of why you have a gun in the first place, and non-gun types get it immediately as well.

I love the look on his face when he blasts him.
It's almost like he's saying, "aaaah, shaddap"

You may consider using www.imfdb.net (http://www.imfdb.net) for your "what gun did (actor) use in (movie or tv show)" inquerries.
-
"Open Range" for western style shootouts, "Heat" for the Bank Robbery scene, "Public Enemies" for 1930's cops and robbers; too many to list!

Emilio was definitely not in Navy Seals, but he was in Maximum Overdrive

Wow! Maximum Overdrive! Now I feel old....

-
Yeah sorry about that guys I made the correction to my original post. I was confused and should have checked before posting. The two brothers made several films together around that time. As for western gun movies it will always be The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly for me.
-
Where Eagles Dare. Clint Eastwood shoots half a dozen people (mostly in the head) with his PPK, then RELOADS before he reholsters. When Richard Burton picks up the MP-40 from the dead Nazi, he takes all the spare magazines, too.
And I love the JU-52 in winter camo.
-
How about Robocop 1. It's one of the coolest movies.
-
YUP YUP!!! Gotta love the full auto pistol!

-
Rambo IV had some of the best scenes, my favorite is when he turns the .50 around in the back of the truck and shoots the driver, making a bloody mess all over the front of the gun. While it wasnt a gun, his arrow head shots were pretty epic too.
-
Check out Ghost Dog: The Way of the Samurai. It might not be you're favorite if artsy flicks and hip hop music aren't your thing, but the execution of Sonny Valerio is one of the best hitman scenes ever.

I like the scene where Del Toro and Phillipe are doing the slow speed chase in the car.
-
Ahhh shooter, watching it right now.
-
Just thought about some more older entertaining (if not realistic) movies with guns.
1. Mr. and Mrs. Smith -- Entertaning and lots of gun action by Bradgelina.
2. Tomb Raider -- More Angelina Jolie
3. Resident Evil -- Milla Jovovich for all the zombie apocalypse fans
4. La Femme Nikita -- who can forget the bathroom scene?
5. Desperado - the guitar case gun and the crotch-gun (to later reappear in From Dusk Till Dawn) :o
6. Last but not the least.... Army of Darkness - the boomstick

"Howbout I bend you over the table and nail you in the kister, and send you home with the, I just humped the neighbors cat look on your face."

Four Brothers and The Big Hit. The shoot out with the sindicate guys when they try and raid the mom's house in Four Brothers was pretty intense.

" Well then, stick to it because you're a walking cluster fuck as an infantry officer. My men are hard chargers, Major! Lieutenant Ring and Gunny Highway took a handfull of young fire pissers, exercised some personal initiative and kicked ass!"
And another solid Eastwood movie that has some gun action which is my all time favorite just because of the poignant sentimental expression is Gran Torino.

So I'm working my way through "Heroes" on Netflix. One episode, an agent-guy gives one of the heroes a gun with instructions to kill another hero should he show up. The first hero obviously has NO idea what to do with this gun. We get a couple of really good looks at the gun. It's a fancy 1911 with an integral compensator. And the hammer is down.
Later, the other hero shows up, and the first hero grabs said gun. We can still clearly see the hammer is down. He pulls the trigger, and blam! The 1911 fires.

Michael Mann movies tend to be gun savvy in subtle ways that I appreciate. eg.
"Thief" with James Caan (1981). He used a Hoag custom longslide 45 auto and modern pistol techniques like double taps, slicing the pie, quick peek, and rollover prone position. Novel comcepts for a movie in 1981.
"Manhunter" 1986 with Will (CSI) Peterson. Besides being one of the most interesting and visually stunning movies I've ever seen, it featured a scene where Peterson is given a revolver loaded with Glaser Safety Slugs. The actor who gives him the slugs is played by JIm Zubiena who shot IPSC matches in SoCal with the Southwest Pistol League. (Jeff Cooper country)
The Miami Vice TV series (1980's) Early episodes featured Sonny Crockett carrying a 10mm Auto Bren Ten. It was strapped into a Ted Blocker shoulder rig.
"Heat" another Mann film. I notice the sound of the gunfire seems realistic, and the actors actually take the time to settle into a stable firing position and aim the rifles.
Robert DeNiro in "Ronin". Not a Mann movie but again, Deniro takes the time to settle into a stable firing position and aim his 45 auto in most every action scene.
Subtle details makes a movie work for me.

Wanted with Angelina Jolie.
Picked this up from the $5 bin at Wally World. All kinds of guns, but got some dumb stuffs in it too like curving bullets.
