General Discussion / Re: HPD October 18 "walk ins"
« on: September 01, 2021, 11:37:21 PM »
I interpreted the new "rules" to be permit to acquire will be up to 10 walk-in's  on M/W/F, and up to 50 walk-in's on T/TH, then down to 40 walk-in's after 9/7. Until previously schedule appointments are done, and the open late on Wednesday's goes into effect.
Permits can be picked-up anytime during pick-up week, until they implement the mail/email process.
Registration is any day they are open, no appointment necessary.

I'm not involved with the individual, but I believe, based on others' posts, he's a thief -- or just a really unethical businessman.

He took peoples' money and never delivered on what they paid him for.  He's moved several times making it almost impossible for people he owes to find him and try to get paid.

My impression is he's a professional crook -- able to take advantage of landlords, creditors and customers and avoid consequences.

Mahalo for the quick response. Ugh! That is really disappointing to hear. At the moment, he’s the only person on the NRA website that teaching classes for others to become instructors. I will make sure not to buy anything from him. Thanks for the heads up and warning.

Sorry, I know I’m dredging up an old thread. What’s up with this guy, and is he a legit NRA Instructor that is able to teach others to become instructor? He’s listed on the NRA website, but does he have the authority to pass or fail potential instructors?

Off Topic / Re: School Graduation
« on: June 01, 2018, 08:29:08 AM »
I think the new generation knows next to nothing for what it's like to accomplish things without praise and validation. We played kiddie league sports and unless we came in first, nobody got a trophy, ribbon, or piece of paper. The only time I got a graduation was in High School an College. I think the new generation could use a little dose of what it is to be 2nd place (1st place losers) without any acknowledgment. No doubt I will get flamed for feeling that way.

yup. lost cable to tv service on the 15th. The only thing I could "catch" was channel 2, which is a static page saying that they went digital and you need a set top box.

good thing I am never in a rush to watch TV, and Roku's were on sale. Bought a bunch, loaded up the Spectrum app and now most of the TVs are good to go. I still have the "free" (for 2-years) cable boxes sitting in the boxes. Stupid thing is - using the Roku, gives me more channels thru the Spectrum app than I got when it was a straight cable to tv ... and now that my TVs are streaming, it's just going to eat up more bandwidth.

they really needed to figure out a way to push the digital signal out and let the non-premium subscribers like myself, use the built-in tuners that come with TVs.

Spectrum = cash grab

you can go into the spectrum offices and pick them up

yah, lines are long, and usually a bunch of people who are coughing and sneezing. it's almost like waiting in a doctors office.

i wrongfully thought that "Orders are typically delivered in 3-5 business days." actually meant that. clearly i had it wrong.

It's been over 6-weeks and I'm still waiting on my "free" Spectrum boxes.  :-\

Umm ... If the newer TVs can tune the digital stations that are coming directly through the coax cable, why do I need a "set top box"? I already get the HD off the digital stations (i.e. 48.1, 48.9, etc.), or am I getting this totally wrong? I feel like this is just a way for them to scoop more money from me on the rental of the box and remote (after the 2-years).

Also, does anyone know - If I can cancel TV service, but keep my RR, will the Spectrum app work on my Roku? or would they cut me off, because I've opt to ditch them for TV service? I can see why there are lots of Direct TV and Dish Network antennas mounted to houses now days.

Legal and Activism / Selling pistol to my cousin ...
« on: April 03, 2018, 07:05:20 PM »
So my cousin (and myself), have started to the process for me to sell one of my pistol's to him. We're in the 2-week waiting period at the moment. I know that I have to sign the back of his permit to acquire once he picks it up.

Question:
- Do I need to make him fill out an ATF 4473 form? If so, where am I supposed to send it?
- What address do I send my copy of a notice of transfer to inform HPD that he is the new registered owner? or which window at HPD do I turn it in to? (as there is currently two)

Mahalo in advance!

Legal and Activism / Re: Pistol sale to part-time Hawaii resident?
« on: April 01, 2018, 01:42:06 PM »
Mahalo! That was the information I was looking for.

A few of the local gun stores here told my friend that needed to be a local resident with a Hawaii ID in order to purchase a gun here. Good to know that's not the case.

If the pistol is in Hawaii then they need a pistol permit.

I know if that if they bring a firearm that they currently own from a different state, they have 5-days to get it registered with HPD.  Can I sell it to someone who does not have a Hawaii ID, but is a part-time resident here? Since I've been told that local gun shops can only sell to Hawaii residence. I'm not asking if they can own it without registering it, I'm asking if they can buy it from me, and leave the pistol in Hawaii so it's available for their use when they are here.

Legal and Activism / Pistol sale to part-time Hawaii resident?
« on: March 31, 2018, 07:31:07 PM »
Would I be allowed to sell one of my personal handguns to a part-time Hawaii resident (they have a Nevada driver's license)?

The intent is that the pistol would remain in Hawaii for their use when they are here.

Thanks in advance.

General Discussion / Re: Private sale firearms transer form
« on: March 17, 2018, 07:33:09 PM »
Has any of this info changed? Is there an updated form or a specific form I need to use?

If I'm selling one of my pistols to a relative, who is licensed for firearms, do they still have to wait the 2-week application process, and do the back and forth thing at HPD? or can I just go down with them, with the firearm and get it done in a single visit?
